Also shot people, attacked people with bats, and hung out in the slummiest parts of town. @@josephgarza934 First off, yes, when it comes to route running, Marvin Harrison was unmatched. Every corner that went up against him said the same thing. The first 10 yards of every route he ran looked exactly the same and they had no idea what route he was going to run. He also had some of the sickest double moves that had corners biting hard and left them in the dust. Second, the best corners of the era Harrison played in all said the same thing, he was the hardest receiver to defend against. Players like Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson who went up against receivers like Moss and TO both said that Harrison was the most difficult to guard against. Marvin was the best of his era and the best CBs in the game backed it up with their testimonials

jdubz170ify moss played a few seasons more than marvin, and marvin averaged 102 catches and 1000+ yards and 10+ tds so if you take into account the more time randy played and if marvin played the same time marvin would destroy randy in the stats, its all about class and consistency and thats what part of the nfl fanbase doesn't understand.

Marvin was a thing of beauty who did not have to make spectacle of himself. His quiet confidence spoke volumes. I tear up, watching his highlights and smiling because I had the honor of him being an Indianapolis Colt! Reggie was good but Marvin was a pure and beautiful piece of art. Ask any defender who they most feared or hated to defend and they will tell you Marvin! Marvin always took the same first 3 to 4 steps so defense could not read his route. Little info. In early days of his career Marv and Marshall Faulk ran the bleachers regularly for training together. There has been no receiver in Indianapolis and probably won't be so beautiful. Marvin rarely huddled and yet him and Peyton read each other like a book! They just looked at each other and they knew the play. May Marvin Jr be at least half as good as his father, he will be Canton bound!!

Marvin deserves it. This is a talent ranking. It’s production ranking. Marvin was THEE most consistent WR in that era. You don’t control who throws you the ball. Your job is to catch and run. Let’s be very real, TO has more drops than any receiver in the top 10 and it’s not even close. Moss was thrown the ball in Oakland and had plenty drops. If you’re a top 5 receiver all time and the ball hits your hands, you catch it. Marvin deserves to be 1 on this particular list.

Marvin Harrison played 2 less years than TO and Moss and has comparable numbers with 30 less games under his belt. Give him those 2 extra years and he very likely statistically matches or beats them in most categories. Even with 2 less years, he has more career receptions than both. He has only 700 less receiving yards than Moss and 1,300 less than Owens; and 28 less TD's than Moss and 25 less TD's than Owens, while playing 30 fewer games. No doubt Marvin Harrison was very consistent. He also has a higher per-game average in receiving yards than Rice, Moss and Owens. He also has a Super Bowl ring. I think the real crime here is that Calvin Johnson isn't in the top 4. His per season numbers are ridiculously good. In only 9 seasons, his numbers easily match the best 9 of any of these receivers.

Yeah but when you're talking about the best ever longevity is part of it. Terrel Davis might have been the best back ever but he only played a few seasons so we'll never know if he could have sustained that for a career. Johnson was definitely great but he retired too early to be considered best all time.

Wayne got to Indy in 2001 and was there with Harrison and Manning until Harrison retired in 2008. Moss had one year of an aging Cris Carter, in the 2000s, playing alongside at a high level. The rest of his career he was THE man. Harrison had Wayne putting up HOF stats for 8 years of the 2000s. My point is still more than valid.

After making one of the most sickest one handed diving catches at Tennesse in 2003, the announcers and the players were all in disbelief, wanting to talk about the catch and replay it, but Marvin jumped up signaling for the offense to hurry up and get going because they were in no huddle trying to score in a close game. He didn't want to celebrate or showboat, he just wanted to win. In fact, the only time I can ever remember any type of celebration was that catch in New England they mentioned here, and i think that was just him spiking the ball. He did his job and didn't showboat

He was great no doubt but Peyton was so good that he had one on one coverage and excellent passing to enhance his numbers that's mainly it. Calvin Johnson with Peyton in his prime would have destroyed the record books more than Harrison did. Even Larry Fitzgerald would be ahead of Harrison in my opinion. The Peyton factor is too huge for him to be ahead of so many other more deserving players. List is bullshit. Once again the old boring media wants to make a point of the quiet guy. Such bullshit. Taking passes away, dear God... Randy's getting triple covered no matter who's on the other side of the field, Harrison isn't, and people act like that's a handicap. If the WR2 is stealing passes it's because you can't destroy people one on one, both of which TO and Moss did in their sleep. Moss came in his rookie season, playing opposite Cris Carter who was a vet, HOF WR, and clearly established WR1. What does he do, oh just set the rookie record for yards and touchdowns. Averages 1400 yards and 14 TDs per year for the next 3 years. That's before Polian went crying to the league cause Harrison couldn't handle the Pats DBs, by the way. Every time Moss had what Harrison had, he made more of it. He gets a HOF QB for one single year of his prime, and he breaks the TD record. To boot, man misses nearly 2 full seasons of the 2000s... and ends up #1? 10 years of Randy are worth less than 8 of Harrison? Ridiculous.
