Shouldn't working on RSA and improving blood lactate threshold just like in the wrestling video work for BJJ too?
@joshuasettlage2 жыл бұрын
Yup! Improving Blood Lactate Threshold is also very important for Jiu Jitsu!

first, thank you for the content. I have been debating this whole cardio for BJJ issue for a while now and what i keep coming back to is the SAID principle, but, I have been wondering if improving my vo2 max would help. I have never tried it, but in theory, it should help. Personally, I use sandbags and sled work. Any thoughts and ideas? Thank you.

Thank you for the comment! and you are on the right track, improving your VO2MAX would definitely help you conditioning on the mat. there are several ways to go about increasing your VO2MAX. Some methods translate better to grappling sports than others. There are lots of ways to use sled work and sand bags to improve your VO2MAX & successfully have it be specific enough to translate over to grappling.

I agree with everything you said, it’s just not up to us what type of training we do where I train

Everybody already gets about cardio sparring. What people need is steady state aerobics to build your base. The aerobic system helps you recover and lower your heart rate and breathing when you are between rounds or get a brief rest when you can during the round. This will solve everything: that and some isometric hard yoga or powerlifting. Bodybuilding you will be too sore and weak after unless you are on steroids. That’s why all the elite guys juice because they break down the muscle lifting and need to recover quickly in order to grapple

Your aerobic base is built through skills training. Even still, your aerobic base won’t solve everything. Bodybuilding training can make you sore, but there are plenty of ways to prevent this without PED’s. And it doesn’t make you weak.
