Advanced crash test dummies cost as much as $1million and are filled with technology that can potentially save people in the event of an accident. Their usage stretches far beyond cars, and originates in the aerospace industry. Today they're used to test everything from airplanes to space shuttles and are even used by the military to test armed vehicles against IEDs...
Special Thanks to Chris O' Connor, President & CEO of Humanetics for the amazing insight on crash test dummies.

I wonder what crash tests will evolve into in the future. Apparently a million dollars for a car crash test dummy is expensive so in 10 or so years from now, what will we be driving and will planes still be safer than cars? Great job on this video, I really enjoyed learning about car crash tests dummies from around the globe. ❤

This makes me very curious on what kind of forces would’ve been recorded and what they would’ve looked like a data chart like at 2:07 if a crash test dummy replaced myself and were in my seat in my car crashes 🤷‍♂️ On January 31, 2022 I was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 trying to turn left when a lady in a 2012 Ford Fusion tboned me. We both were able to walk away from the wreck. She experienced face pain from the airbag and chest pain from the seat belt as well as right wrist pain. While I just had a bruise on my hip when my body flew into the seat belt latch. I also remember myself being tossed towards the drivers side door but I didn’t impact it hard enough to cause any damage. Both of our vehicles were totaled. Then on February 6, 2023 I was driving another 2004 Ford F-150 (which replaced my previous one that was tboned), when all the sudden I went over a patch of black ice and lost traction and the drivers side then started to head to the ditch. Once the drivers side wheels clipped the snow the truck started to roll about 3 times down the ditch until the drivers side door struck a giant tree. The door was jammed shut and I had to exit the vehicle out of the passenger door. The truck was totaled. The biggest damage that was noticeable was the drivers door was smashed in and slight intrusion in the footwell. The front passenger window and rear window shattered, roof dented in from a big rock, body panels and pickup bed and frame were all twisted up, grill flew off, snd windshield cracked. The pain I experienced for the next month was in my ribs on my right side, right wrist, head pain (2 days later), and pain in my neck. It was also noted but didn’t really cause much pain that my left shoulder was also red and slightly rug burned from my seatbelt righting up. I didn’t realize I hit my head until a day or 2 later which might’ve been from my giant water bottle that was in the cup holder flying everywhere in the truck before it was ejected out of the passenger window along with my phone. Another possibility was I hit my head on the back of my door frame. I went to visit my truck in the junkyard 3 months later because I was curious to see how much was left of it and I noticed a huge clump of my hair still stuck between the drivers side window (the glass itself) and the drivers side door. I was thankfully able to walk away from that wreck as well. Although like I was saying earlier, I would be very interested in seeing what kind of impact forces my body experienced and what they would’ve looked like on a chart if they were recorded 😅
