I have one of the first 23’s bought it One month after launch in the U.K. and I have no steering wobble and yet like you I hear many complaining, I think this bike has such pin point handling that road surface might play a part in it. The only one issue I do suffer as everyone else is fuzzy mirrors over 70mph, but I can live with that no problem.

Thanks for a great honest owner review 👍🏼. You're also the first owner to mention the quick shifter issue 14:25. I have experienced the same issues (intermittently), but maybe more regularly, than you. It's like you're suddenly clutchless downshifting, without a quickshifter fitted. Have you experienced any occasional clunk from the gearbox, when you use the clutch? Or any clutch snatch or judder when pulling away? BMW say to they can't find any of these issues I've reported and that nobody else has mentioned/reported them. I don't have any high-speed wobbling issues, others mention. The M1000R is definitely a phenomenal motorbike. Ride safe 🙂
@DongYonder3 ай бұрын
Appreciate it! I occasionally get the clunk if I get a false neutral and pull the clutch to drop back into gear but overall its been really good. No real judder or anything unless I'm not being smooth on the clutch or just not giving it enough throttle pulling away. I've experienced the same issue with the quickshifter on my RR in low revs sometimes not wanting to go from 4 to 3 or 3 to 2 but again its rare. I think its just a quirk of the BMW shifter. A quick fix Ive found is if it doesn't want to go give it a tiny throttle input and then try again. Its gone every time after that.

Did you consider the Streetfighter V4S? The M R and the SfV4S both got some upgrades for the upcoming year. I know it's a dumb and wide question but.. Would you go for either of them or maybe for the upgraded S RR or the Pani V4S? I can't make up my mind.
@DongYonderАй бұрын
I did look at the SF and in my experience they aren’t as easy going as far as a do it all bike. They like to be ridden angry and definitely get a lot hotter. Great bikes but just depends on what you want. The M1K is happy cruising around in the city as well as flying down the road. The heated grips and cruise are nice to have as well as an actual fuel gauge. As far as naked vs fully faired that’s kinda dependent on what you’re looking to do with it. Majority of the time I’ll take the single R out, it’s surprisingly practical. My pick would be the M1KR
@tsarnevitsАй бұрын
@@DongYonder Thanks for replying! Well both the Pani and the SF now come with CC and heated grips (as an extra IIRC) - although, no fuel gauge on either. That is sort of bugging me, but I guess I could live with it. I feel that I would get more value out of either of the Ducatis, since they come with better suspension, steering dampener, brakes and for the moment more power aswell. The heat worries me a bit, especially on the new Pani. Haven't yet been able to watch all the videos out there regarding it. Well I did 3 track weekends past summer and am planning to do the same at least in the next and otherwise it'd be streets/roads/the occasional longer highway. Does your V4R feel more "premium" to you compared to the BMW's? Like which one gives you the "best feeling" riding around? That is also a factor for me. Also with the BMW's touching the ECU voids the warranty here in Europe, so I'd only be "allowed" to add a full titanium system with the shorty GP exhaust. With the Ducas you get the flash from the factory and the warranty stays on :) Oh well.. Love the vibe of your channel!
@DongYonderАй бұрын
@ one thing to note on the new Duc cruise control is that once the upmap is on with the exhaust it gets disabled. Really weird. The only thing that makes the V4R feel better to me is the Ohlins, but once I swapped the stock suspension/dampener out on my RR for the Ohlins I prefer the feel of that bike on the street over the Duc. The BMW tech package is better as well imo. The Duc would be a track weapon though compared. The electronic suspension on the R feels a lot better than the stock manual on the RR but not quite Ohlins level. I don’t think you can really go wrong with whatever you choose, they are all great bikes. Appreciate it!

I was thinking about the doing the (2024 M 100R Competition) BT Tune, but keeping the stock exhaust, or at least getting rid of the catalytic converter. I don't want a loud bike. What are your thoughts/opinions? I'm on the verge of purchasing this bike brand new. Thanks for any input.
@DongYonderАй бұрын
In this video I still had the stock Akra muffler on the bike with titanium Akra headers that delete the cat. They sound great with just the header swap and to me not uncomfortably or crazy loud (although much louder than stock). Another advantage is you lose almost 13 pounds off the bike by ditching the catalytic. All the sound suppression is in the cat and exhaust valve. An option for you that you might try first is the BT tune will command the exhaust valve always open which will give you some more noise. If you want more after that the only option is headers removing the cat. I would start with the tune before anything else and go from there.

It is still going to be running lean....get some earplugs because they are LOUD (I have M1kRR with akra and SC Progect CRT and its crazy loud). Have you adjusted your suspension at all? Tire pressures? Just curious, I think these bikes are a little more sensitive to being properly set up than some others. If you have and its still wobbling thats really odd. I truly haven't felt much of anything all the way up to 160mph

Interesting, because my local BMW dealer not only recommend the BT Moto tune for my M1000XR but also did the install. I actually went there to get the TOM update
@DongYonder4 ай бұрын
In my research and talking with my dealer I think all the blown motor stuff is being exaggerated. I'm not saying it didn't happen but what I am saying is that a lot of the circumstances of the more high profile failures are very questionable in how the bikes were treated. I had a long conversation with my dealer about the tune and warranty etc. and they were very supportive. They said just don't touch the stock limiter and I shouldn't have any issues with warranty if its ever needed. The tune makes such a difference in the bike that I would do it all again. In fact I'll be adding the BT tune to my RR when its done with it's break in. I think some dealers just have a weird attitude towards modifying a bike at all and I try and steer clear from those

No one buys these bikes and then looks at MPG 😉 If I am on a long ride with friends, I will toggle rain and race pro so as not to pee off my mates with constant pitstops for fuel - to br fair they have just accepted this fact and we pitstop more. By myself, I am always in race pro and accept I need to refuel every 160km to 180km or so. In rain mode, I can get almost 300km to a tank. However, it is totally pointless having this bike if that is what I am after 😊 Then there is the replacing the rear tyre every 3000km 😂 It is what it is.

I've had mine since launch and not had a single speed wobble. Mirrors! Pah. Just not enough of an issue to bother me. At all. Fortunately, us Europeans don't suffer that flat spot in the tuning. In the UK, insurance is going to be the downfall of this bike for me. I nearly couldn't get a policy this year after one year of ownership, and now I'm dreading the renewal in April '25. I have also experienced the "no shift" issue. I did a track day on it, though, and it was faultless. The TFT and tech on this bike is monumental but I think that changing the suspension settings from road to race means a lot of screen navigation which has become annoying. It loves going slow AND fast. I can't remain going slow on it for too long, unfortunately. Once you get into to the "zone" of this thing, you cannot think rationally anymore and my right hand just keeps rotating.
@DongYonder2 ай бұрын
Appreciate your thoughts! Amazing machines. I hope you’re able to get the insurance sorted. I have to wonder is that how Europe is trying to crack down on bikes like these?
@HyperBiker2 ай бұрын
@@DongYonder That's a good point. It wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. I'm hoping, come April when all my convictions come off my licence, that the insurance cost won't be too bad. Recently, the right hand winglet plastic cracked near the rear mounting bolt. BMW are changing it on warranty as it is a known issue. Bear that in mind if you find a crack on your winglets. Also, the right hand headlamp fairing snapped off during a track day last summer. £60 for the plastic and another £60 for the decal.
