The clarity about detachment is very important otherwise it can be interpreted incorrectly by people in behaving indifferently to sensitive situations and in situations where courtesy needs to be imbibed, it can be a rude indifferent behavior, which can hurt others feelings, the understanding goes deeper. Excellence in everything we do is necessary as it becomes our second nature if we don’t cultivate that habit we can easily slip into mediocrity and end of the day we’re the one who is losing out, so it should be practiced not just to please others but as a virtue to please God and be true to one self which is the easiest way for doing Karma yoga. Liz Murray’s example that Swamiji gave us is a great way to understand how giving our excellent self i.e nothing but excellence in doing anything in spite of odd circumstances with no excuses can lead to great success!!!
