No college player in that era put the fear into other teams quite like Ismail, one of the bigger Heisman snubs ever

It's never been anybody like the "Rocket" .. The excitement he invoked everytime he touched the ball and the fear he put in teams was otherworldly.

I saw this game live from my Dad's living room in Pensacola Florida. Both Rockets kick off returns made us happy. Bo Schemblecker said he wish he could of shot The rocket in the back on those returns after the game. That curmudgeon. Lou Holzt was a great coach.

I was at this game! Had endzone seats. Was with 3 friends who were Michigan fans. First return unfolded right in front of us and he hit the hole and made his cut like he was shot out of a cannon. Just incredible! Second one we kinda came out of a wadded up mess. I’ve seen a ton of football live in my life and him and Ahmad Green from Green Bay are the two fastest as far as getting to speed instantly

Serious???? He barely had 1,500 all-purpose yards and 5 total TD’s!! Andre Ware threw for more yards 4,699 and TD’s 46 than anyone before him. Between Ware in first and Ismail in 10th were - Indiana RB Anthony Thompson with his 1,800 yards and 24 TD’s - West Va QB Major Harris - Ismail’s teammate in QB Tony Rice - Colorado QB Darian Hagan- My favorite (Air Force QB Dee Dowis) - Florida RB Emmitt Smith- MSU LB Percy Snow - BYU QB Ty Detmer - and tied with the Rocket for 10th - Penn State RB Blair Thomas!!!!!

@@joegoog23 So, based on Statistical Criteria, how did Charles Woodson beat out Peyton Manning for the Heisman several years later? But enough of that. If we could please move on... Do not misunderstand. I am not now nor have I ever been even within a LIGHT-YEAR of being a fan of PM. The Reasons are part Merit-Over-Accident-Of-Birth (do not get me started on the UK's Royals...same thing here IMO) and part Personal Reasons I won't bore with you here. And even though I did not go to Michigan (thought about it, but it was just TOO Big), I was happy beyond what mere words can describe that CW beat out he who was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth and thus was entitled to HIS Heisman Trophy. Face it "Sir," the ONLY Reason you won either of those Super Bowls was that your Opponents only got there by dumb luck. The Seahawks let you guys know right where you stood in 2014. LOVED THAT, and I AM NOT anything even vaguely resembling a fan of that Proven Cheater P. Carroll. Take your disingenuous "Shucky darns and slop the hogs" blather somewhere else, Kemosabe ROFLMAO

I have been a staunch Michigan football fan since young boyhood during the 10 Year War between Bo & Woody. I watched this game and there is still a hole in my heart from it. Bo's last season and #2 Michigan's golden chance at home to take out the #1 defending natl' champs. We were the better team overall but ND had a good team AND the Rocket. I curse the Rocket to this day...but have much love & respect for Notre Dame. Might take my son to South Bend next week. Can't beat the tradition of these two old blue-bloods. And i want to pay homage to Touchdown Jesus. Go Blue! 😉
@BlantonDelbert6 жыл бұрын
Good to hear a Michigan fan with a level head. Good luck Saturday. If you don't know, Touchdown Jesus is no longer visible from the Notre Dame Stadium after the expansion after 1997. Yes, in certain parts way up near the library, Touchdown Jesus can still be seen. However, before the '97 expansion, Touchdown Jesus could be seen throughout the stadium. After the expansion and the "hiding" of Touchdown Jesus, ND has never been any good. (But yes, one year with Kelly they played Alabama for the National Title but got crushed, 2013.) Neverthless, UM and ND should play every year.
@leojanuszewski10196 жыл бұрын
@@BlantonDelbert Obstructing Touchdown Jesue HAS to produce some bad karma. We mess with tradition at our peril. Michigan hasn't been Michigan since we broke with tradition and hired RichRod---who wanted "lighter quicker linemen with more stamina." 🙄

@@BlantonDelbert I couldn't score tickets but now i'm glad i couldn't! 😉 Michigan looked ugly---STILL cannot block! But tip o' the hat to the Irish: They came READY and came out guns smokin'. They were a power-running team. Tony Rice was never known as a throwing quarterback and sometimes only threw a few times in the game, relying on the triple option to get the yards with the occasional bomb to a flanker. Think Georgia Tech's offense, but out of the I or T formations.
