@jakehr32 ай бұрын
I think this sort of video shows something that gets overlooked by a lot of fans: NBA players are really good at defense, just offenses are so much better. The reason teams routinely score 100 by the end of the 3rd quarter isn't because players can't guard, it's that players can really shoot a lot better than ever.
@malrulesall96692 ай бұрын
Exactly
@renziair2 ай бұрын
It's also more on spacing. With spaced offense defenses are ought to run every play. Clamps are only possible on isolations.
@dylaneverhartmusic2 ай бұрын
You're right but it's also a lot to do with the rules favouring the offense. What these guys are doing in this clip is incredibly impressive in the modern game because they have to rely on maximum agility and minimum physical contact. When you can't barely touch people it's gonna result in high scoring, also makes lockdown defense all the more impressive when it happens.
@PingachuS2 ай бұрын
Exactly but there’s more to it. It’s been talked about before but rules changes and looser rules on what’s traveling/0 step and so on, have lead to more moves being legal and more offence because of it. Can’t defend someone properly when they do a step back 3 but with 4 steps and no travel call. Or when they eurostep with 5 steps. The list goes on.
@dylaneverhartmusic2 ай бұрын
@@PingachuS Oh man don't even get me started on travelling. Seeing guys take 5 steps on the way to a layup is simply not fun to watch. Not to mention they probably also get fouled on the way from the slightest touch, rewarding them for this play. I hate the gather step but at least it should be enforced, you can't defend someone when they take 4 or 5 steps without dribbling.
