OKC’s defense is INSANE. 18 steals last night, 3 INSANE perimeter defenders with Wallace, Dort and Caruso, followed by the long armed bois of SGA, JDub and Chet… and IHart, one of the best defensive big men hasn’t even played a minute for them. This is a generational defense, and if their shots begin to fall, they will be DOMINANT this year.
@doctorevil7740Ай бұрын
No doubt they will be extremelly dominant but there is no way they beat the record of least point by possession this season. The average points by 100 possessions of the NBA last year was 115,3 points instead of 97.7 pts in 1975, so there is no chance they beat the record of the Bullets ( 91 pts per 100 ).
@isaacgrundy8670Ай бұрын
@@doctorevil7740generational doesn't mean record breaking it means for their generation they were unbelievably dominant. I think OKC can definitely fit that description especially defensively.
@SWRVBruhАй бұрын
@@doctorevil7740 no, but even if they are close, I don’t think you understand how unbelievably impressive that is. In 1974, players weren’t even 25% as good as they are now. And the rules favor the offensive end so much that it’s almost difficult for teams to not score 100 points a night anymore. OKC’s defense is unbelievably good.
@GiveMeTheRiceАй бұрын
24 total forced turnovers, so even more great defense than just the steals implies
@doctorevil7740Ай бұрын
@@isaacgrundy8670 I said OKC will not break the record because in the original article the overreaction was that OKC will shatter the record of the 1975 Bullets ( 91.3 points per 100 possessions ) which make no sense given the efficacity of nba offense in 2024. If a team in 2024 manage to concede only 1 point by possesion they will be one of the greatest defense of all time despite being far from the record.

@mellowthievesАй бұрын
Finally someone said it. The dumb thing about the Timberwolves is that they made the trade but kept the same game plan which is so confusing to me. Hopefully they figure it out but I think adding an extra guard or too will help out
@rabeechowdhuryАй бұрын
25 10 and 7 are Sabonis-Luka fusion numbers with Shai Gilgeous Alexander's consistency. If that's what he's giving you, the Wolves should make the NBA finals assuming they avoid disaster matchups like the Mavericks.

Wizards being the worst team of all time is extremely rough considering that they have good defenders (Caul and Sarr) and offensive players (JP and Kuz) who can go off for a lot of points. But yes, they’re capping at 20-25
@Grievous_Ай бұрын
Kuminga has looked bad when he starts next to Steph Curry because with the Starting lineup of Curry, Wiggins, Kuminga, Draymond and TJD, the offense is run through Curry (obviously) and the secondary option has been Wiggins so most of the time Kuminga has just been standing in the corner and not a part of actions, the problem is Kuminga isn’t a great shooter so he becomes ineffective when he just spots up in the corner, with Curry and Wiggins out and Kerr moving Kuminga to the bench, it has allowed Kuminga to take on a bigger role, a role where he can seek his own shot now as the #1 option off the bench rather the 3rd option in the starting lineup
@rome8180Ай бұрын
Yeah, he's going to look better on-ball than off. He really can't do that with Curry out there.
@darnellwilliams8783Ай бұрын
@Grievous_this is bs Kuminga has never been given a shot by Golden State they should trade him instead of wasting his time
@tiredbasketballfanАй бұрын
The problem in that lineup for JK isn't Curry, it's Draymond and TJD. Not exactly ideal spacing for him
@Grievous_Ай бұрын
@@darnellwilliams8783 Fck uphow many times has he had his chance to improve his SHOOTING, that’s ALL THE TEAM ASKED FOR!!!! It’s been 4 seasons now and he STILL hasn’t improved, you know who HAS IMPROVED THO, Moses Moody, that’s why we gave him an extension, Moody is shooting I believe 50% from 3 this year, small sample size but anyone can visibly see the improvement and jump Moody made from previous seasons!!! Kuminga, he looks like the same player we saw last year, absolutely no improvement, just runs into guys when he drives to the rim and then can’t shoot and inconsistent on the defensive end!!! Stop trying to put the blame on MY WARRIORS for the reason Kuminga is failing, we are a great development team, we developed Curry, Draymond, Klay, Looney, Jordan Poole, made Wiggins a better shooter and defender, Moody has gotten better, so the development staff is clearly a top one in this league, it’s clearly a Kuminga problem, HIS problem, and don’t start with Wiseman being a fail too, first off he only played 3 games in college but secondly I still think he would’ve developed into a great player had he not been injured 80% of his time on the Warriors!!!

1:50 my favorite example of this is that, for a period of time in the mid-2000s, the last 4 players in the NBA to record three games with consecutive triple-doubles were Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Grant Hill, and BOB SURA edit - I forgot to mention that that period of time lasted less than 24 hours, as the NBA rescinded the last rebound of Bob Sura’s third triple-double since it came off of a missed shot that Bob made on his own basket. There wasn’t enough in time left in the game for him to get down the court to the opposing basket so he thought he could try to score on his basket and collet the rebound all the same. The NBA disagreed and took the rebound away.

With it being about 2 weeks in now, this is still an early take, but the okc being the best defensive team in history is still currently on the table. The main narrative is going over “adjusted net defensive rating” which helps bridge the gap of scoring averages from teams in the past to our current offensive heavy nba. The team with the best defensive rating was the 63-64 Celtics with a rating of 112.89. As of now, okc has a rating of 123.54!! And mind you, this is without their main defensive centerpiece in Hartenstein. It’s not too far fetched to say we can be witnessing history right now.

Amen and Tari Eason should *absolutely* be starting, but right now they're arguably the best (or at least most dynamic) two-way bench duo in the NBA, and are just destroying other teams' bench lineups. Guys like Amen and Reed need more minutes, but at least they're winning games? (And even for the ones they're losing, they've all been winnable so far.
