Chris, at first I'm agreeing how it continues to amaze me of the lack of knowledge of this rule by MLB players and even coaches. But I really don't think it's the case. I feel it's more like these guys want to gain any advantage they can in the game by playing dumb. I'll bet these guys have experienced this play 40 or 50 times maybe more in their career. They know the rule.

So he's out I get the explanation, but it seems the biggest problem with the rule is the second part where you mention the throw. No throw no interference, throw and it hits the runner interference. In that case, u are putting undue hardship on the runner or bailing out the defense as they can just throw at the runner. Now back to this case if Turner does not contact the 1st basemen or in this case his glove and beats the throw does the ump still call him out?
