Love your videos I’m one year on the platform with 3 cars until my bmw got stolen by a guest and taken to Mexico…. The claim will start in a few days (after the month wait). Although I did not upload a picture of his DL, I did check it. He was supposed to send me a picture which he never did. I was about to cancel that trip because he had a bad review for not filling up with gas on a previous trip…I wish I had canceled it, guests´ reviews are so Important

Due to COVID and the license facilities being closed all expired drivers licenses have been extended till March 2022 in Illinois. They do allow online renewals also so for those in person handoffs be mindful of this.

Thanks for the video. About taking picture of the license and add to Trip photo. Why would we want to add that to trip photo when it is not required? By doing this, we are giving Turo the image of the license for them to find little things that they could deny the claims.

Hi Saimah, please help me, please! I have nothing but trouble trying to get started in becoming a host. No matter what I do fill out every single field for information in the start process it won't let me sign in. It will send me a security code to either my phone or email, then I input that code as required, and then it tells me the code is invalid. I tried contacting support through Turo and nothing or it will say " sorry we didn't understand the question" please rephrase it another way. Like this is so frustrating for me. After so many attempts it will lock you out for security purposes and you have to try again much later. Please help. J R T

@@lmgchi2845 There isn't a rule/law that says you must be in business 5 years before you can buy a car in your business name. It's judt that most dealers won't do it unless they can see a good amount of solid business history. You can always buy a car and do a transfer of asset to your business, though with no business history, you'll most likely have to personally guarantee the asset under your personal credit. This allows you to build solid business credit though. Just some personal experience I'm sharing. Me and my bro rent over 20 cars. I'm not a cpa or tax advisor.

There is no commercial insurance for car rental business. You can put a bond at the dmv and you'll be the responsible for your car and your reg will stay active.

What if guest does not agree to take photos of his license during check-in? Also during contactless check-in the guest should take photo next to the car what proves he is physically present there and he is the person who is taking the car.

It doesn’t matter if the guest doesn’t take photos as long as you do.

I had a guest recently who has refused to go with contactless pick-up for the exactly same reason - he didn't want to expose his driver license and make any photos of it. But he has agreed to verify it personally. And now I'm curious - what could happen in case of accident and if he is not the person behind the wheel (this is common scenario when gust allows somebody else to drive the car without adding him as a secondary driver), because I don't have any proves that I handed over the car to the right person.

@@valshin I’m sorry I didn’t read it correctly the first time. I get people that don’t want to upload their license pic too. I let Turo know and then Turo cancels the reservation and I still get paid from Turo’s cancellation policy. It’s considered a guest no show. I also tell Guests they can block out their address and Drivers license number. But everything else needs to be showing.

@@valshin As long as you verify the license in person you’re fine. If someone else is driving the car that’s on the guest not you. However, I personally would just tell Turo they don’t want to upload their license and Turo cancels the trip (I still get paid). So much easier that way. Guests are late, or I might be busy and can’t verify in person. Too much of a hassle.

I think you still didn't get me. Contactless pick-up procedure is clear - no photo of the license - no car. But if I meet the guest personally and guest refuses to make the photos of the license (the is no such direct requirement in the rules) I have no proves of the identity. And later unauthorized driver could trap in the accident and the primary driver could lie and refuse he was the person who took the car. He could say, for example, someone stole his account and he has no business to that.
