The axle seals right there on the front axle, they are right inside the diff where the carrier bearings are. We have a special tool to install them at work, but a 35mm socket and extensions work just as good, that's how I did mine.

Great video. Ya'll are hilarious and I love your stuff! With that said, and I know I'm just being a nitpicky hater here, but I got a few little things: When installing the Pitman arm, CLEAN THE THREADS then threadlocker then install. Use a box end instead of an adjustable for the tie rod end nuts. Also, when you've got a deep socket of a decent length on a wrench and you're putting some torque on it, brace the wrench at the top of the socket so you won't side load the fastener or nut and/or round off the sides and/or have a wrench flying off and hitting your face. Awesome walkthrough, keep it up guys, again, love your stuff and entertaining as hell. Jeep on!

Any issues with stock track bar axle bracket? Would be cool to see an OTA track bar video.
@PabstBoys9 жыл бұрын
+Todd None yet. Thinking that if we did have issues, we'd probably beef up, or rebuild the existing bracket. OTA track bars are good for clearance, but are way shorter. There's way more tracking back and forth with the suspension as it goes in and out. On road handling goes way out the window with an OTA setups.

What about the stabilizer bracket? When I got my jeep it had 1 ton steering already on it with heim joints! But no brackets for sway bars or the steering stabilizer. How would n I do the bracket for the stabilizer?
@PabstBoys9 жыл бұрын
bigb3576 There are kits out there that fit stabilizers like you would see on a 1 ton truck, that attach to the axle tube and mount to the tie rod using bolt on brackets. You can also get kits that run dual stabilizers that bolt on in a similar way.

So I got my JCR OTK kit installed and just got an alignment. My jeep is driving a lot better but i've noticed some bump steer. I use my 97 jeep xj as a daily driver. Is it possible to install a steering stabilizer since the old bracket is cut off? and any chance of the sway bar relocation mount video in the future? Thanks for the awesome video really helped a lot putting together this kit.
@PabstBoys8 жыл бұрын
We'll be shooting that next weekend. not sure how long before it comes out though. The stabilizer won't help bump steer. That's usually caused by differing deflection between your drag link vs your track bar. basically not traveling together but pushing away from eachother as the suspension moves up and down. That is for that particular setup, that is...

Bill Moser you can but you have to buy the bracket, I paid $50 for it, but its not necessary.
@PabstBoys9 жыл бұрын
Bill Moser Ducks101fan summed it up. But you will need it if you do what so many people do when they try to get a better pinion angle, adjust your caster angle in to the negative. Stay smart. Friends don't let friends drive Negative Caster.

And where's the sway bar relocation video? All the questions cause I'm trying to get this straightened out cause my jeeps the daily lol
@joe83888 жыл бұрын
Iron rock offroad in my opinion sells the best trackbar with the double shear bracket. I wouldn't drop the pitman arm unless you need to. Need to get your trackbar setup so that it is parallel to the drag link, depending on the agnles will determine it you need to drop the pitman arm
@UltraBlarn8 жыл бұрын
+joe8388 I've already got a dropped pitman arm and it's not even seated all the way on the cup. I keep getting damn death wobble and it's getting aggravating
@joe83888 жыл бұрын
+cool doesn't necessarily constitute death wobble. make sure every other aspect of your front suspension is good--control arm bushings, ball joints. Is the drag link parallel to the trackbar?
@UltraBlarn8 жыл бұрын
+joe8388 ball joints are all good alignment is good, lower control arms are adjustable and they are perfect, and no the track bar isn't parallel with the drag link I think I'm gonna get a jks straight track bar for the angle but It's just so pricey; I might need some upper control arms cause they are stock. my steering gear box is "loose" is what the alignment guy said that's why it's popping when I'm turning the wheel so I got a jcr steering box brace and spacer haven't got it in the mail yet though.
@joe83888 жыл бұрын
In my case, I got my Jeep with a 1" lift and it had terrible death wobble. Put a 4.5" kit on and I have not had it since. But it looks like you are on the right path, strength and make sure you get them angles right. Save some money get the trackbar it will most likely help a great deal
@LCOOTS8 жыл бұрын
hey, when you are using a tapered reamer you should run it much slower than you have shown in the video them things are very expensive. they should only be powered by hand.

I actually bought this kit because I had gone through many sets of the OEM steering and thought this would be a good upgrade and to save in the long run . But as a matter of fact this product / procedure didn't come out as clean as easy as thought . I have completely installed the steering and can admit ( 0 play in wheel vs stock components ) but , I can not make U- turns as sharp or easy anymore, have interference with my trackbar at certain angles , and have a death wobble going 75mph . Not sure what I could do , I'd appreciate if someone could get back to me with some information , please and thank you
@antoniorios38568 жыл бұрын
Im certainly no expert but ive been through the forums,you could look into a "high-steer" setup, or the WJ knuckle swap which is expensive due to the fabrication required. Im currently planning to do the Wj knuckle swap for better brakes and steering. hope this helps
