While I think vegetarian diets are sustainable due to the inclusion of dairy and egg, I do not think the vegan diet is healthy, and I really think we are meant to be omnivores. One argument for this can be seen in the natural world; animals that eat only meat are relatively common, like all types of cats, but the number of animals that only eat plants are extremely rare - the only ones I know of are sloths and koala. All other animals, even animals like deer, cows, horses, ect, will eat meat now and then (birds nest are like nature's protein lunch box for many of these animals). Another argument is how few people can be healthy and vegan for a long period of time - vegans often look sallow skinned, and while many people have tried the diet, many have also had to abandon it as months or years later they became too unhealthy on it. I do think farm animals should be well kept and happy, I also think going vegan in protest for animals that are treated badly is foolish as you can pick more ethical options as some farm animals do live good lives, even if picking that option means you can't afford meat every day due to added cost. Choosing meant from ethically raised farm animals also supports those farmers, which is needed as that type of farming is more costly.
