The Viking 150 has plenty of power for this airframe. 1000+ FPM is easily attained with around 5000 rpm and even with 2 full grown people aboard. I have enough hours on now that I will start running it up to 5800 rpm for climb. I will post another video soon. Last flight with 2 aboard was a solid 120 mph @ sea level with 4800 rpm on the engine. I am told the aircraft sounds great from the ground and is very quiet. Inside is a different story when you wind it up but its not the engine, its all propeller noise.

Was always curious regarding how Murphy rebel would fear with the Viking engine, I've seen someone install one but never showed a video of it in flight at least now we know, the engine should be right on par equivalent to Brand named dedicated aviation air cool engines.

Still a draggy aircraft but plenty of power if you need to get there quicker!

Only about 15hrs on my V150hp they are nice and smooth aren’t they? Wish I could have put the VIP on mine but my budget was blown, possibly later. Good looking airplane enjoy!

Thanks, You mentioned in one of your previous posts that your Elite "doesnt fly like that" with regards to the hands off video that I posted a couple years back. I would have thought they would all fly the same.

@@frankarndt9633 hi Frank yes my elite has a left turn tendency . Other than that it's great apparently it's in the rigging ? Any thoughts.

@@frankdavey7125 Unfortunately mine has the same thing. I keep a tiny bit of right rudder in or keep the right wing a little lower I didnt see the problem that much with the 80hp subaru but with the added speed that the Viking 150 provides I really notice it. First time in 20 years of flying my rebel that I am in the 110-120 mph range so any trim issues/tendacies are exaggerated i guess.

I have a 160 Lycoming it jumps off the ground my crews is around 105 at 2250 rpms fast crews is 115 . I bought 6 years ago in Canada east of Montreal. The man I got it from sold it because he had a prop strike then a issue after he put pontoons on it both repairs were done by a certified shop . He lost his insurance. He said it was more airplane than he could handle. His loss may gain.

@@frankdavey7125 that's interesting. 105 and 115 for you, 100 and 110 for me. When pushed past 110-115 thing start getting loud. Not blaming engine just the nature of the Rebel I guess. Cruised around for an hour this morning at 80-90 mph. Very quiet and comfortable.

Engine has worked out great! Smooth with plenty of power. Nice cool morning last week gave me 900 ftm climb at 3900 rpm. Lots of surplus if needed.
