Hi, Competitive pokemon player here! The reason why the 2023 champion's team was so much weaker was due to the shift in formats between 2022 and 2023. 2022's format was Sword and Shield restricted rules which meant each player was allowed up to 2 legendaries with a base stat total over 600. Whereas 2023's format was Scarlet and Violet national dex which meant players are only allowed legendaries with a base stat total under 600. They are also built around different metas 2023 is more focused on stopping support mons like tornadus and incineroar from setting up things like tailwind and parting shot with terastilisation helping that both offensively or defensively. 2022 focuses more on clearing as many pokemon as possible with gigantamax helping deal massive damage to your opponent while also setting up little buffs and debuffs to slow down the opponents damage output.

Hey for future reference it'd probably be best to dynamax during the battle instead of having it before because it appears you're getting neither the hp buff or the moves (although that could be fixed by inserting the g-max/Dynamax moves but I'm unaware of a way to get the correct hp)
