The quickshifter gets better after 500 miles or so. I dont use mine around town, at low rpms or in 1st or 2nd gear- i feel it puts too much pressure on the box. Keep your rpms steady, mid range to high to use the shifter. And this sounds dumb but make sure it is actually enabled on your dash. You can turn the quick shifter on and off. if you don't turn on the quick shifter it will seem like something is wrong but trust me you have to turn it on for it to shift seamlessly even at lower speeds or the speed you're in the video. if I'm not mistaken you can turn it on by holding the center button on the left handle bar for 2 seconds, pay attention to the screen something will pop up prompting it has been turned on have fun!!
@amisfitpuivkАй бұрын
You probably figured it out by now but that circle at the start of your clutch/throttle cable is a locking nut, loosen it up and spin the cable tip. You want a small amount of clutch cable slack/lever jiggle, but not as much as you got in this video for sure. After adjusting it turn your bars all the way both ways to make sure it still has a little slack. You want to fit a nickle (2mm) in the gap of your lever before it has tension, and that's the slack you want. Putting weight on the pegs combos good with leg squeezing too, saves the boys from bumps in the road
@tkschrome487Ай бұрын
The quick shifter is exactly that, for when you need quick shifts. So when you’re hammering the throttle or you are high rpms it works properly because that’s what it was designed for. If you’re in a corner clutch click up or just stay in that gear because throttle input is the main factor. The slack in the clutch and throttle is easily adjustable you could do it without any tools. I’ve owned mine for a month and that’s just my 2 cents
@tkschrome487Ай бұрын
And like I said don’t use the quickshifter in a corner if you aren’t ripping on it because the jolt from the hard shift could send you sliding. There will still be oopsies here and there when the throttle isn’t completely pinned but a tune can clean that up
@KentPhillipsАй бұрын
No I have a 2018 R6 which I installed the Yamaha OEM quick shift and it was smooth as butter no matter the rpm and gear. I've heard the same about the R1 up and down quick shifter and the Ducati V4 quick shifter. @tkschrome487Ай бұрын
@@KentPhillips okay but what are you saying no to? I own the bike I know how it works and everything I said is correct about the zx6r. Some quick shifters are more complex but the zx6r is very basic and it likes to be open throttle or high rpm or both to work perfectly EVERY time.
@KentPhillipsАй бұрын
@@tkschrome487I wasn’t clear. I understand some bikes don’t do it properly. I was disagreeing with your definition of a quick shifters purpose. A quick shifter is meant to give you quicker shifts than manually shifting period and should be doing that whenever you need to shift since on track you could be in any rpm or gear and any delayed shifts would reduce laps or cause a crash. That’s for the zx10r for example you can get a tuner to actually make the shifts better since that has issues with the factory quick shifter as well.

Quickshifter: It could not be the case, but just in case I will write it. If you are not high enough on rpms, it won't shift smoothly, on my r6 I don't shift with QS if I'm not over 6000 rpms, also even if you are over certain amount of rpms, it will shift more smooth if you are giving it power, if you are accelerating, but not enough, it won't be as smooth as if you are giving it juice. Slack on the clutch: yes, you can adjust it, but remember that there should be some slack or you could burn your clutch. My 2021 Zx6r has the same play in the throttle and the slop in the clutch lever. Even after adjustments it has been difficult to get it where im happy with it. With the quickshifter, practice shifting at different rpms to find the sweet spot cause there is one trust me when I say. You must also be on the throttle when quickshifting. The more throttle the better, also if you quickshift from first to second nice and smooth no problem, then you have trouble going from second to third its most likely because you let off just a bit before accelerating then quickshifting without realizing. It only allows one go on the throttle in between shifts if that makes any sense.

The Slack should be there .... its normal, and use quickshifter only when you have some RPMs left to give out to quick shifter to lower the revs and upshift it.

I had issues with changing gears. Solution: adjust the gear leaver for size of your boot. Basically if it is too tight between foot and leaver, leaver is not reseting. You need slightly bigger gap between your boot and leaver.

@DiogoCDSousaАй бұрын
Hey man after seeing the video, one thing you sometimes do is upshift while decelerating or with too little throttle input and that might upset the quick shifter. Use it only when you’re actually accelerating like near half throttle. And use only maybe after 6000rpm and see how it feels like. Here you do what I’m saying 14:13 going from 3rd to 4th and that might be the reason the shifter is acting up. Also, when you can’t upshift try decelerating fully, then accelerate again and then upshift. Hope this helps.

As for mods... ..an exhaust on its own, not gonna do that much on a modern bike, you really need ecu tuning to unlock what you gained with the open exhaust (and also to remove any emmissions restrictions that might be present at certain rpms). @MotoDanTheManАй бұрын
@@sliqdaddy91 absolutely. As long as you know what you’re doing. No weight on your wrists and try to take breaks from time to time just to give your body a rest. The ZX6R isn’t as aggressive as other supersports but you definitely don’t wanna put fatigue on your body.

@@Qrides then I’d say the perfect bike for you is the ZX4R or ZX4RR. Inline 4, 16k rpm, with a top speed of 131 mph. Perfect bike for beginners who want a 4 cylinder screamer. If you get the RR you get quickshift up AND down! Maybe look into that. Kawi recently dropped the prices on them because they realized they were selling them for too much for a 400cc.

One day if you do the full system custom tune and velocity stacks you will be putting around 126-128 hp to the wheel. blows the R9 away hp wise ( R9 is like around 105-108 at the wheel )

Nah from what I’ve read and seen from other owners of the 2025 is that it comes stock with 136hp this year . Another owner and dealership told me that .

Your clutch slack is out of spec, needs to be adjusted. On my Daytona it didn't like quickshift (up only) when coasting or going down hill, which makes sense because you can't cut the throttle when there is no throttle to cut.

You wouldn't feel that slack on some good machined ones. Enjoy it bro. And liter bike is not the end game.
