This video attempts to document the task I did on the day one year after my shoulder repair surgery. So it was good to showcase that I can get ladders, climb on the roof and inspect attic vents without any issues from my arm. BUT!
I could also title it - What not to do with your drone!
I made some mistakes along the way - and since this channel tries to tell you "what I did" and not necessarily be a perfectly produced video, or even a "how to," I decided to document what went wrong - as well as showing something I'll likely not ever do again with my drone!!
Tech notes:
1. As you know, I don't use scripts - just extemporaneous yammering at the camera! That makes the flow a bit off.
2. The camcorder video was EXCRUCIATINGLY long and I needed to chop it up.
3. Doing editing and some speed ramping, the Magix Movie Studio 2024 software did something that caused me several days of headaches - resulting in this video being released almost 2 weeks after it was recorded. When I did a "speed ramp", that is, taking a cut and speeding it up 4x, for some inexplicable reason, even though NOTHING was visible on the timeline in the editor, the sped up audio or the audio speed up effect was applied to almost half the takes. This was AFTER cutting out enough to reduce the overall length from 44 min to about 23. But finding and fixing all the issues was a continuous headache. Just one more reason I'm transitioning to DaVinci Resolve!
4. Always record on the transmitter as a safety backup. I managed to get out of range of the receiver.
So in a sense, this became a "drone video" even though it's primary purpose was to show the work done up on the roof.
More to come!
