Folks love the hair everywhere I go now. To anyone growing out their mane, stay strong because there’s definitely a light at the end of the tunnel for the awkward stage. Great video.

Keep growing it man! Your family does not know your heart and listening to them can lead to severe emotional damage. It happened to me many years ago when I was growing it out. Thu/04/16/2020 2:53: Now it’s a little below my mouth and it’s about to be at the top of my chin, and it’s also an inch away from the bottom of my chin. Sat/05/02/2020 4:43: Now it’s definitely at the top of my chin, and probably only 3/4in away from the bottom of my chin.

El Moreno, you are my hero. You showed me great kindness during the Great Cut and I have no regrets flying from Seattle to go meet you and hang out with you. You are a self made man who has accomplished many great things and should be proud of yourself. That being said, women do care about how we look, even if they do not admit it. Like you, I am fortunate in that I am married to a very virtuous woman who loves me no matter what, but finding a woman who does not care about how we look is at least as difficult as finding a man who genuinely does not care about how a woman looks. Our image matters greatly even outside of romance; something documented by academics studying the halo effect. It is depressing, but it makes long hair all the more valuable. Many who weather through the awkward stage willingly and consciously bring ruin on multiple parts of their lives, for many months, just because they seek long hair. The awkward stage, is more like the grit stage.

I am now currently at 5 years and 4 months (maybe equivalent to 4.5 years because I self trimmed the split ends a couple of times). My goal was initially 3 years. After 5 years I am now aiming for 7 full years! However, with the next great cut I am really tempted to join you in your next event in 2024. That would mean 9.25years! I have been growing mine out recently, the top portion goes down past my jaw but the sides and back are still really short because I was gonna go for a viking-esque french braid with short sides for a while. But now I'm gonna dedicate to getting a full shoulder length head of hair, been spacing out my hair washing to let the natural oils do their job and protect my hair. I have been using coconut oil when I get out the the shower when it dries out and becomes super light and fluffy. I have also been growing out my starter beard and caring for it with beard oil and routine cleaning. Hopefully by the time I turn 20 in a few months the sides will be a reasonable length that it won't look horrendous when I tie my hair back.

@@EIia_M Of course, I sadly had gotten pressured into getting a haircut last year as my hair was just reaching past my jawline. So I had to start over but this time I'm growing out my full head of hair instead of just the top section (not trimming the sides). Managed to get my hair back to cheekbone level. In that akward stage where it's too long to swoop back or gel, but too short to tie up so it's not in my eyes. So now I have a center part in my hair and people have been comparing my to leon from RE4 for months. lol

Nick I’ve been married for 28.5 years. My last haircut was Nov 2018. I knew my wife wasn’t feelin’ the whole longhair thing. But I still kept pushing for her opinion. Finally she admitted that she preferred my hair to be short or even medium length. However, she supports my decision and understands my passion to participate in the Great Cut of 2024. I guess that’s all I can hope for. My advice: don’t make it an issue with her. Don’t pick a fight about it. Stay above it if you really want this. Friends and family will make back-handed comments. Just smile but don’t engaged. The most recent that was said to my wife from her friend (and I was in ear-shot): “I miss Rich’s short hair...” 😂 smile and shrug. Remember: you can CUT your hair on a whim but you. Any grow it out on a whim! That takes time and dedication. Good luck man! We can do this.

First time I started growing my hair, I was 17. My biggest obstacle was my stepfather, there wasn't a single day where he didn't told me I looked bad. Worse part was that he forbid me to tie my hair into a bun or a ponytail, because he said I looked like a Chaka (a kind of mexican malefactor that thinks he's badass), and as I have a really curly hair, I looked like a lamb and It was really unconfortable. I finally cut my hair off when I was 19. Time goes by, my mother passed away and my stepfather left home, so I started growing my hair again during the pandemic, when I was 22. I started with an undercut and finally decided to fully grown all of my hair last summer. I'm 25 by now, and my hair is starting to look somewhat good, but my sides are still too short to tie a full ponytail. I feel really insecure sometimes, and I constantly think about getting a haircut, but your content had helped me a lot with my path on growing my hair, and i'm fully decided to get the long hair I've always wished for. Thanks a lot for all the effort you put on this Channel, is really inspiring and helpful!!! Best wishes from a future Long Hair!!!

Probably just me, but it seems to be coming in thicker than it was just before you cut it.

I'm in that stage for the second time now since I've cut my long hair short. I miss the feel of my long locks resting on my back.

Hmn I think I was in a race to win who are the fastest men in growing hair cause I'm in a same stage in every single videos that this chanel post about regrowing a long hair with this man on the videos, but I never trim or cut my awkward hair so let's see who the fastest

The awkward stage became very easy for me once I stopped using shampoo. My hair no longer gets frizzy or puffy.

Hair's looking good though man! The awkward stage ain't so awkward in your case lol. My awkward stage years ago was this white guy fro. Lots of thick curls. Now almost eight years later, my hair is a flowing lion's mane

Ok, I know this is a few years old, but man, I want to grow my hair out but can get past the messy, awkward stages. For the past two and a half years, I have been buzzing my head every two to four weeks. And three times, I have tried to stop and just let it grow out. But it gets to that messy early awkward stage, I give up, and the buzzer comes out. The big thing is I have a few cowlicks that make things tough to style as I go through this. Like the idea of the donate goal and two years is a reasonable amount of time, I think to try that. But I have seen all the videos of working with the awkward stages but need more help getting through them. Anyone got any advice?

My grandparents said I would look like a gay 🤷♂️ Said I would look feminine and can't get a job but hey, let's do it anyways! I've had one friend who has basically said f*** it, grow it out and been giving me the confidence to give it a try
