Great video, Your comment about driving these cars on the street is so true, I have a GT4 and I have taken it to the track and after the track it is actually seems a shame to be limited when on the streets. I am not a pro but driving on the street you can get 2/10s from the car on the track where it belongs 7/10s is possible for a driver like myself. After that the driving on the street is a numb experience, I can only imagine that this is multiplied for you with a GT3 RS MR.
@RingRennSport5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yep, exactly. At a point driving on the road with a Porsche is not giving you more excitement then driving a nice other car as you are just stuck in traffic or frustrated that you cannot go fast. And acceleration becomes boring and used to very fast. After years of buying “fast” cars I found that your fun car should be as raw as possible to make the experience as big as possible. Even thinking now that the best way is even to get an old 911 RS tracktool will get you more excitement. Like a 964 or a 993 but the prices gone through the roof :/

Regarding the Schroth harness...those are the 2 inch ones which are made to being used with the HANS or the Simpson Hybrid neck protection system, which I woul recommend anyway. If your‘re not using one of those then I would suggest to switch back to the 3 inch wide ones. But beware, the 3 inch wide harness are not allowed in combination with HANS or the Simpson neck protection Systems👆‼️‼️

I'm very surprised this guy does not have any type of HANS considering his track usage. Skip buying wider harnesses and invest in a HANS...

Hello! After a year of putting it to good use on the track, I would say that your paint looks pretty neat. No major swirls as far as I can tell. There are a few places where it could be a little bit cleaner and better maintained, but you must be doing something good judging by the general state of the RS. I would be humbled and more than happy to recommend you some cleaning and protecting products to make cleaning and maintaining the aesthetics of this beautiful red arrow easier and more efficient. Best regards, Raul S.

Nice video 👍.

Ref the harnesses… they might be for use with HANS device. If you use a HANS, they won’t dig in - but then you have to get used to having a HANS on. Excellent vid btw. I’m in a GT4 and hope to get as good in it as you were in yours.
@paulplank66665 жыл бұрын
You beat me to it. You need the narrow belts to fit a HANS device, then it will not dig into your neck. The 3” wide belts won’t fit the HANS properly.
@RingRennSport5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yes there are made for a Hans device but you cannot use them when driving Tourist Driving on the Nordschleife as it’s not road legal to use them. But the previous red harness was also intended to use with a HANS but were also comfortable without.

Funny comments about the harnesses....Here is a tip for ya. The narrow harness is to wear with HANS device, the wider harness is not compatible with HANS device. So if you are doing really fast laps you clearly need a HANs and everything will work fine with your neck and cutting blood issue.
@RingRennSport5 жыл бұрын
Sorry but you are mistaken. The previous harness from Schroth was also for a HANS and yet more comfortable. Otherwise I would have mentioned it.
@racer41995 жыл бұрын
//. A bit.... BUT the older harness was also supposed to be used with HANs. If you don’t wear HANSs (which would be crazy if you are chasing fast laps on a racetrack), then you should opt for the wider bealts
@RingRennSport5 жыл бұрын
HANS is not road legal and therefore not permitted during Tourist Drives unfortunately.

Are the seatbelts like normal 3-point in a crash (they have "give"/slack)? It would not be smart to have a 6-point with no give without a HANS device (instant death due to your head "flying off your body") AND a full roll cage. You don't want to be stuck in one position if the car rolls and the roof collapses.

I don't know if I miss it, but I noticed that you are using steel brakes? I guess you choose that because that is cheaper to replace? How long do they usually last? Nordschleife can be stressful even for PCCB and no one wants to spend around 9000 bucks to replace the carbon ceramic brakes every couple of months. I also noticed that the fuel cap is at the front so the tank must be at the front like the race car. (race car has caps on the hood though. That would be hilarious irl. Someone pointing the nozzle into the hood XD) That being siad, I recall the GT3 RS uses same front/rear tires to cut cost and because it is rear engine, the front tends to get light. This causes the difficulties to warm up the front tires. Also as you burn your fuel, this issue will become more apparent and the handling will change based on the fuel percent. Can you feel that in the road car? For ex, are you feeling any understeer from time to time or you have to trail brake really hard to make the car rotate?
@sergialadid5 жыл бұрын
Yes they are steel brakes and yes people choose the for intensive track driving over PCCBs because of the running costs. The GT3 RS has 265 front and 325 rear, so I don't know what you are talking about in the second paragraph.
@tsorpniala98205 жыл бұрын
@@sergialadid I think that is less about the tyre size but more about the weight distribution. 911 is rear engine so most weight is at the back. Plus the fuel tank is at the front. As the tank is running empty the front is going to lose weight. The understeer effect will be amplfied if the (front) suspension is too stiff, as there will be no weight transfering to the front, and the front has less weight already. I was wondering if the driver can feel that underwater becomes worse as the car burns fuel.

Good point. The top is then not color painted but bare carbon with a coating. The roof is then also carbon instead of magnesium, the rear wing is bare carbon. And the roll-cage is titanium.
