11:37 I feel one of the most important parts of preparing a charcuterie board is, making every single piece visually easy to grab with two fingers, *without* touching any other aspect of the board. This is because etiquette requires you to not touch anything that you don't intend to eat yourself. But that salmon is kind of hard to see where one piece ends and the other begins. So people are either going to be touching other people's food, or staring at the salmon closely to find out how to grab a single piece properly.
@tadh73952 жыл бұрын
if toothpicks/tongs are available, doesn’t it fix this issue anyway? or do charcuterie boards usually not have those

But in recent years the price has hiked up as more and more people in far away places has found a taste for this berry. In advertisements made by the norwegian board of tourism, they claim that cloudberries grow on mountaintops under the northern lights to try to make them feel more special, when in reality they grow in swamps and marshes :ppp

as someone who loves cheese, heres my favorite charcuterie board to make: grapes as the fruit element, soft white french bread loaf for the bread, cambozola + goat cheese + irish white cheddar for the cheese (usually like to work with a blue cheese/brie + cheddar/gouda + sheep/goat cheese mix), truffle honey, smoked salmon for the meat, and sea salt pistachios for the nut. keeping it simple but making every element good quality is the best way to go
@Dezzyyy3 күн бұрын

@@Definitelynotquanny it doesn't. manuka honey is made from manuka flowers which are hard to grow. If he's paying 100s for it it's probably 100% real manuka honey or from a very expensive brand. Bear in it also depends on the size and the glass jar. Something in a glass jar will always be more expensive than something in plastic the price also depends on where he's from and where he's buying from and of course the price might also depend on if the honey is organic. Or ya know he could just have gotten ripped off or lied about the price for the video.

Nick should have invited one of us less wealthy folks, who make charcuterie boards all the time, to show him how to make the $1-$100 boards. We know to at least slice the sausages so someone doesn't grab a whole one leaving nothing for anyone else 😂 Love his videos, just had to point that out because 1 of my kids or my SO would have totally taken a whole sausage and never thought it was supposed to be shared.

15:20 Mother of pearl *or* bone/ivory spoon. On a night out one summer in Portugal. My parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and I were eating outdoors at a nice restaurant. The ivory spoons that came with the caviar had the most beautifully engraved scene on the handles. My father asked one of our waiters to call over the owner of the restaurant. When he arrived, my father spoke to him about purchasing one of the ivory caviar spoons. The owner said something (idk exactly because they were speaking Portugese) along the lines of, "with respect, you can't afford it." My father smiled and handed him a United States $1 dollar bill, then put the spoon in his shirt pocket. The owner smiled and walked away(I think he thought it was worth a LOT more). A few minutes goes by, and the owner soldiers back toward my father and holds out the dollar bill in my father's face with intent for him to take ot back. Everyone laughed but I felt bad. My parents aren't wealthy, but during vacation, they pretended to be and spend so much money. Then I had to beg for shoes that fit my feet during the school year, lol.

Seeing salmon, seafood and almost only cheese on some of those... charcuterie... (literally "meat") boards, was a strange experience haha! A mixed board would be the closest French equivalent, cheese & charcuterie, but anyway I'm hungry now
