For those who dont know, voltage isnt the killer, amperage is. A static discharge from rubbing your feet on the carpet releases 20k-30k volts in that single spark. Thats enough to cook a circuit board (ESD), but not a human. You can have high voltage with very low amperage. Ohms law.

Yea our next door neighbours had a 40k volt electric fence and we grabbed it for fun as kids. But then i accidentally grabbed some exposed wires in our house in a room we were renovating and i got stuck snd that shit coulda killed me. And thats only 240V. But like 110 or 120 amps. The fence is like 10 amps or less

​​@@silenttitan416Ohms law dictates that 240v across 20 mega ohms (Average skin hand to hand resistance) would only allow 20mA to flow. If it's exposed flesh, 120mA. If it was really 100 amps, one would simply instantly boil and your muscles would contract hard enough to dislocate joints. Food for thought incase you were not scared enough of electricity 😁😂

@@VIKEHV i just looked it up i was mixing up the 3 phase system which is 120 amos in total. It was an odd setup on our property. We had a 3 phase setup for the other parts of the property, sheds and a well with a pump. But the house was seperate with the regular 63 or so amps. And it had been a bit of a dodgy home job wiring some stuff up and the circuit breaker did not flip when i grabbed the wires. I was stuck for what felt like a minute but was probably 5-10 seconds tops. I think the only reason it didnt stop my heart was it was my right hand and it grounded out through my right foot. If i had grabbed it with my left hand it might've been a different story. I was in pain for probably 2 days. But 100 amps does not instantly boil someone. Ive known people who had powerlines ark out on them when they were repairing them. It did literally crispify the organ tha ark went through but he lived.

Water exposure and electricity turns the human body into a larger conduit than it already is. With someone’s heart beating above the typical BPM, or those with heightened blood pressure due to physical exertion of energy you start getting into the medical field issue of potentially inducing tachycardia. The circuit your body makes and exposure of the current has to fully go through you. Your heart and brain are the source of electricity and it is only grounded through your feet. It doesn’t just touch your skin and it’s that one little area. The let go range of the human body is 25-30 miliAmps. It doesn’t take much and If you have a source like a bunch of batteries or whatever it is that is making “10,000V or 10kV” … depending on what type of wire that is… and how many feet, you’re pushing your luck on the total number of exposed branches or nodes. Beyond that the actual source of the 10,000V is the issue, it’s one shunt, or faulted event where that 10,000 is milliseconds away from plummeting… lesser voltage shunted in an instance jacks up your current causing faulted conditions. I’m talking electrical burns, induced afib, arrest, painful stuff…

@@SuperMrCynical Well, it's definitely more fun when you're not an expert! 😄 The dangers you mentioned are probably real, but considering that millions of people complete these obstacles every year without serious issues, I still find the risk acceptable. I’m probably at a higher risk of injury from other obstacles, like climbing a rope when my shoes and hands are muddy, making it easy to slip and fall from a height, or dropping the 50 kg stone ball on my foot. Of course, every obstacle has its risks, and the electrical ones, for example, are optional. Anyone with health concerns or who feels uneasy can skip them during the race.

Depends on the power source being used to provide the voltage if it’s already got a large amount of current they’re gonna get cooked buttttt if it’s a relatively small power source with small current there’s nothing to really worry about.

I'm an electrician and I can say that it's not 10,000 volts because people will explode at that voltage whether it's direct current or alternating current. Moreover, there is water so this is more dangerous.
