Was checking out someone's budget Beanstalk deck. They were using the self mill strategy to scam the black cards that are reduced in cost by creature s in your graveyard. He was playing Overwhelming Remorse a five mana exile card that gets reduced cost. Not sure if you had seen it. One mana exile a creature or planeswalker and triggers Beans looks decent. Making a non-budget version myself.

Yeah there is a nice Beanstalk budgety deck going around for sure :). I run into it a good amount in play Que, so didn’t really think about making my own version - but maybe I will. I actually have No Rares Black Mill coming later this week!

I hope you don’t dismiss this as too much of a crazy conspiracy theory but… From my own experience and watching content creators who build a lot of off meta decks, it really looks like there’s a matchmaking preference even in ranked that results in off meta or jank decks being matched more often against each other. As you see here you didn’t face a single mono red deck in 11 games, and I’ve seen you comment on other brews you’ve made that you’re seeing “weird decks”. I build a lot of brews and also occasionally play meta decks. It is very much my experience that when I’m playing a brew I see off meta decks, and when I switch to a meta deck I start seeing meta decks. Anyway keep brewing! I wish more magic players understood that you don’t have to play boring meta decks.

i've asked that as well, it feels like there's an algorithm that mirror matches, so far im like 1w 6l with this green deck and can't even escape diamond tier 4

of course there is an algorithm. You think they just let matchmaking do its thing? No competitive game does this. The job of the game is to keep you playing, so how do we get that to happen? to have a good player win always? and a bad player always lose? no, keep them at a 50%, so if you win too many games the game puts you up against a counter deck. if you lose too much, you get some easy free wins

Earlier this year there was some information about matchmaking, it was gleaned from a bug in the Arena client. Cards are given a point score, but the points are based off of match results. New cards or off-meta cards have no point score and make decks appear weaker than they are. As you play, the algorithm adjusts the points and you get tougher matches. When you play other people's decks they have been playing them for awhile and the matchmaking knows how good the cards are in the deck.

Since you play a lot delirium maybe try to mess up with Fear of missing out. I read somewhere that if you have 2 of those and attack with one then the other, you'll get 3 combat phases. Up to that you could and that spree card from thunder that gives an extra combat :) 4 combat phases masterpiece baby let's go!

I tried that card a good amount earlier and felt a bit slow unfortunately (may work in a full landfall type deck)! The one card I haven’t fully tested is that green plant delirium guy, may be something there too :)

The cynic in me says that the matchmaking algorithm didn’t put you against mono red becuase mono green is not a top tier deck color right now. If you play red or white or black, I’m sure you’d see more mono red decks.
