Thank God it wasn't a Cat 5. For the difference compare this video with photos of Andrew's damage August 1992.

The mobile homes would be flattened. Looks like most damage here are the car port roofs. I went down to Homestead after the hurricane with a rubber tire backhoe and I seen real homes that looked like toothpicks.

My prayers for ALL affected are going up continually. I have some family in the particular town in this video but they’re ok. Just minor damage but others in their neighborhood didn’t fare as well. Also waiting nervously to hear from other very longtime friends in Ormond Beach. They got pretty bad winds and rain with Helene so I’m just hoping it’s a matter of maybe no power or phone service. That’s still a huge pain but lives obviously matter much more 😏♾️🙏🏻♾️

Milton was a category 3 at landfall and Bradenton only experienced low end category 2 conditions. This damage is consistent with that. You really only see mobile homes slashed open in cat 4+ landfalls, or with storm surge.

During a hurricane, there are the contant straight line winds with powerful gusts in random places. Then there are tornadic winds and possible tornadoes. Powerful forces. Each storm a building withstands lessons it's stability. Buildings prior to Hurricane Andrew about 1990 were built without hurricane straps on the rafters and lesser buulding codes.

Mobile homes are called "blow aparts" for a reason. Remarkably, most are still standing. This storm was over hyped a little, no offense to anyone intended. It was not as powerful as we were lead to believe. Helene was worse.

Overhyped is the wrong word. Milton was powerful storm and had potential o do lots of damage. All clear communications noted this and there was potential for it to be a better case scenario or a worse case scenario. Prepare for the worst hope for he best is what we do. I was lead to believe it being powerful was a serious situation. It was no as powerful at landfall. I just want to offer a correction a bit. No offense intended bu overhyped is not the right word it isnt a marvel movie or a taylor swift album

@@Oldschoolrules123 Hurricane Andrew 1992. Way before Florida adopted the strict Hurricane code everyone has to follow except for Mobile Homes. Mobile Homes don’t need to meet the requirements because they are manufactured in other states and they are mobile. Don’t compare Andrew to anything else. That Cane was devastating. This was just a 3 and mostly flood water.

@@Oldschoolrules123 yes no sh*t. But you miss the point. Mobile Homes can be manufactured anywhere. Also Mobile homes have wheels and are transported on wheels. They can be easily moved by something as small as a pick-up truck. They are made out of 2x4 and thin metal skin 3/8 inch thick. Seriously! Average Florida home built before Andrew and especially after Andrew. CMU sometimes filled with an engineered roof truss or stick tied to the CMU block in a fashion that the entire structure is one with the CMU wall. This is one of the many codes that came from Andrew. Now professor, find something else on your computer, and try to push some more fake intelligence.
