Excellent review and detail Hilton. I think I will stick with 5", all steel 1911's in .45 as my carry and training gun of choice. I like the recoil impulse, the overall size and weight in terms of feel. For me, the full size 1911 in 45 conceals well and the added weight just means a quality gun belt and holster are mandatory. But I appreciate the work you put into this review and maybe as I get older, I may revisit a commander size as an option. Thanks,

Great video, loved the number 5 and 2. However I’d like to say if your gonna buy a 1911, I’d recommend shooting more than 15k rounds total. You’ll be glad you did, so maybe get a 1911 that can last longer than just 15k

The TCP in 9mm is a dream to shoot. I'm shocked at your findings in the 45acp version.

The CQBs are nice full size guns, but Wilson in general is just overpriced/overrated for what you get. Berettas even with all their additional fixings still don’t match just tossing in an LTT trigger bar and calling it a day.

My Hilton, as I am getting older, Like Bill Wilson and his buddy Ken H. I find my Author getting the best of me and makes my full size 1911's not enjoyable and I pay for a range session days after shooting. I decided to try 1911's in 9mm. Two steel framed 1911 commanders and now a Staccato alu. framed C-2 with a 3.9" bbl. I find myself wondering your take on the new crop of 9mm 1911s now in such vogue today. I am enjoying the sessions once again adn thel have allowed me to have extended sessions heer on my personal home range. I much enjoy your no nonsense approach to your vids. I have one of the very first Colt Defenders made. The one with the CZ rear sight. Haven't fired it in over a decade. But I checked my records and 1652 rounds with zero malfunctions with Wilson or factory mags. I know. Pretty unbelievable.

Great stuff, I had the same issues with two Dan Wessons, a Guardian and a CCO absent the brass bead falling out (both of them came with tritium) A couple of replacement parts (i.e. slide lock levers) and all is well. I have heard so many complaints of partial engagement with their factory part. One in .45 with the ramped barrel went back to Dan Wesson, they it appears made a change to the ramps geometry and I have had zero issues with it since. Thanks so much for this information Hilton always good.

Hilton my dan wesson vigil commander in 9mm is such a great pistol. I just changed the spring to a 12lb . I have run everything through it no hiccups.

Thank you for a fine review. Much appreciated your thoughts on the Combat Commander. I acquired one early this year and just have not warmed up to it. Have a Lightweight Commander in 9mm and enjoy it. But all in, still prefer the steel 5" in 45 as my go to.

Thanks for your review and evaluation of these guns. For many years I carried a 1911 in 45acp. My fav and most dependable is my Ed Brown Executive Carry that is a 4.25" all stainless. It eats everything and is extremely accurate. In addition to some 5" models I also have a Wilson LW 4" with heavy barrel and as you say it is not as pleasant to shoot.

Dan Wessons and Colts are your thing and I get that but have you ever tried out some of the older 70 series type Kimbers prior to the firing pin plunger or the Smith and Wesson and Sig 1911"s?

Hey will you do a review on the Alpha Foxtrot S15 1911 3.25" Bull Barrel, solid aluminum frame that has the grip panels machined in aluminum frame, the slide and barrel are both DLC coated. the pistol takes Shield Arms S-15 magazines or PSA Micro Dagger 15 round Magazines.the Alpha Foxtrot s15 1911 is an affordable version of the Wilson Combat SFX-9s 3.25". The pistol has been 100% reliable, I have shot 1,500 rounds through it so far with zero malfunctions. The pistol is really flat shooting, extremely accurate, the trigger pull weight started off at 4lbs but after I shot 250 rounds through it the trigger pull weight dropped down to 3lbs, the trigger is crisp with a tiny bit of take up then a clean break and the trigger resets immediately the second you let off of the trigger making for a very fast shooting pistol. This 1911 pistol is a Hidden Gem that I think a lot of people would really enjoy adding to their EDC pistol rotation.

Great video with excellent content. The closest I have to a pistol like this is an STI Ranger II in 45ACP. Bought it new back when they were being made. Shoots great, but quit carrying it pretty quickly for something lighter. Don't really shoot it much these days as I am not sure what I would need to do if the recoil master guide rod/spring needed replacing.

Yep my SIG Ultra Compact 45 is having the same malfunction were the bullet is noise diving in the mag trying to feed up in the ramped barrel it's doing it with ball and hollow point ammunition so I'm wondering if the ramp on the barrel needs metal removed

The H&G #68 (LSWC) projectile is a very good (and accurate) projectile. I was wondering at the advertised 770 ft/sec on a 5" 1911, what would be the velocity of this bullet on a 4.25" Commander-sized 1911?

I will be building a 10mm with a commander slide, officer frame. Just need to get the time and funds. Why? Because I can, and it would be. Good backup that’s not bulky for bear country

@@litsci4690 why? Hard cast rounds or Lehigh penetrator Cooper bullets and rounds on target faster than a .44 mag double action. Out of the holster quicker than a 6” slide.
