What I hate about instruction videos is that you have to hear some body who loves to hear themselves talk...talk. Then they show you two or three junk licks and then try to lure you on to there website to get the rest. You, Marcel, come on, no bullshit, get right to it and saturate us with many, very good quality licks. Thanks for that, I'm a subscriber now.

I've been working on the first 3 licks and plan on continuing until I've learned every one of them and can follow along with this video and up to speed. It can take many tries to get one of them. I'm not clear at all if this will make me a better player but it's the goal I've set for myself. If and when I get there I'll email you.

Does anyone have any experience with the pitch keys that's on his headstock I've been looking at maybe buying a couple of them but there isn't a whole lot of videos online about them
@LessonsWithMarcel4 жыл бұрын
I tried them for about a year. Not incredibly natural to turn mid-song. I found that I was about as quick just tuning by ear with the normal tuner. I haven't used them since a couple months after this video came out.
@Artorias0014 жыл бұрын
@@LessonsWithMarcel thank you for the reply from you think Keith tuners feel any more natural because I love the sound that Earl Scruggs would get from tuning this banjo during songs

This is all well and good, but you should show how to apply these licks to a solo. You can memorize all these licks forward and then backward, but like a virgin not knowing what to do with it, only leads to beating them to death.
@adtorresitpro5 жыл бұрын
All these riffs were done over a G chord that was droning in the background. You can use EXACTLY the same fingerboard pattern SHIFT up or down when the background chord changes. i.e. if the next chord being played is a C chord THEN move the patterns up 5 frets!!! and if a D chord then move them up 7 frets from the G chord positions shown. When soloing over a G major chord play G major pentatonic riffs, then when the chord switches to C major play C major pentatonic riffs and when it switches to D major play D major pentatonic riffs . Finally if the next chord is a Bm(I just picked this for grins) then play .....wait for it .... B MINOR pentatonic riffs. So you have to learn Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic and Myxolydian Pentatonic(Just a minor pentatonic with a major 3rd) and apply the process I described above. Pick a song on youtube, set the playback speed to %50 or less and apply this process. Pretty soon you'll be shredding without even thinking about it.

if you look at all the really big guitar tutorial channels, it's really clear what you need to do. you can't just say what to play and never just break it down and show how to play it. hell you spent more time talking about how many views you got than you spent playing the licks.
@theplug58987 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that you looked past anything that was probably pretty rude and took the advice to heart. If you really apply these things to your videos than they will probably end up being my go-to videos for bluegrass guitar. I look forward to seeing new videos.
@DJBuell7 жыл бұрын
Personally, I love these tutorials BECAUSE it doesn't spend a whole lot of time going string-by-string, fret-by-fret, and every hammer/pull/slide. There are plenty of other really good sites that break down each lick. These sites try to accommodate every level of player. I really appreciate these more intermediate level tutorials like yours Marcel. Keep em coming.
