Who knows..maybe one day I'll fulfill this dream, even though I feel handicapped to improve my English level living where I live for now. I respect your English level. It's gorgeous and it would be uncanny to hear your level of English for people who just know basic things about English or nothing at all ;)

It reminds me of my 8th grade English teacher, who told us that for every new vocabulary word we learn we have to use it in 3 different sentences, in conversation throughout the week, so we remember the words. And even with that information, I still can't remember certain words. I once looked up a word in the dictionary and found a word I didn't know the meaning of, so I had to look that one up and when I did, I found the FIRST word I didn't know. The words were impudent & insolent and I didn't figure out the meaning until I met Andrew, the British lexicographer who puts words in Oxford English Dictionary & he told me that's called "creating circular word entries" and you're not supposed to do it. OED DOESN'T do it. I used Webster's before that,
@InteractiveEng
@InteractiveEng 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Vicki. Thanks for sharing with us. You're right. Building vocabulary is ongoing process. And I feel like I constantly forget words, especially when I'm actively trying to learn another language. That's interesting about the dictionary - creating circular entires. Funny enough, I usually find definitions that contain a different part of speech of the word I'm looking up. This happened recently when I was putting together the adverb quiz. I wanted to see the how the dictionary defined "deliberately" and one entry said something like "the act of being deliberate." 😅

Interactive English Hello! Thank you for your comment! Yes, those verbs were all new to me. I hadn't known any of those before. I took it down. Also, I always repeat after you when you pronounce it. Frankly, you're very good to my ears. You not only have useful videos but your voice does soothe me, which is pretty good while listening. Thumbs up! 👍
