My zero-cost way to making my house look more luxurious is to just clean it. Because I know people who have very expensive furniture and decor and the couch is always covered in piles of laundry or the coffee table is covered in dirty dishes, so you never see or notice the nice things. Your eye just goes to the clutter. But you can have thrift store furniture and keep the house clean, and it already looks better than the expensive messy house.

I am older, and one thing I had to do to update my spaces was to get rid of "collections." Replacing a collection of Hummel figurines with a large piece of pottery and a plant has made all the difference. Plus, it's SO much easier to dust and keep the space clean. It truly makes my home look "clean" and more modern!
@poodlegirl553 жыл бұрын
I'm working on that. I have a spare bedroom for my craft room and I keep my collections I can't part with in there.
@spooniesarah3 жыл бұрын
One tip I've come across, to make it easier to let go of old things (collections, heirlooms, etc) was to take pictures of them to add to an album along with a description of what it is, how you got it, and why it's special. Then sell/donate/gift/discard the items as appropriate. That way you can keep the visual representation of the memory without cluttering your space with things you won't use or truly enjoy

Have a washable couches instead of putting a sheet on them. If you do need a sheet or something you can get one that looks similar to the couch and covers the whole thing. Washable rugs help too. If you cant do plants on the ground/low, try hanging them or a high shelf. For curtains, consider putting them on curtain rings with clips so you can wash or replace them when they get dirty or scratched Try wood or metal benches and chairs instead of upholstered Leather couches are also easier to clean Hope that helps!

@cheripaul46453 жыл бұрын
I love seeing you use craft paper to lay out your gallery wall🥳 I use the reverse side of my previous year‘s Christmas wrapping paper leftovers! Pro tip: mark the position of the picture hangers/picture wire, on each piece you are hanging… Rub over the hanger with your finger and either pierce it with a pen or draw a dot with a permanent marker. While the papers are still on the wall, install all your picture hangers and simply pull off the paper. Easy! To keep your pictures level, you can use a ball of poster adhesive in one corner. For a more permanent solution, nail a tiny Brad nail into the corner of the frame (backside) and snip off the head with a pair of wire cutters. Use a level, push the frame corner into the wall, mischief managed!

OK, so. I've always loved the way layering looks on beds, with all the different pillows and throwblankets and stuff, but. I have a question. What am I suppose to do with all this deco at night? I'm using only one pillow (kinda flat, not one of these big, fluffy pillows, but it's orthopedic and very comfortable for me), and a thin blanket at summer. Do you actually sleep with, like, seven pillows and three blankets on your bed? Or you have some special sofa to put all this different deco on for the night? I'm actually curious

@@DirektorKatastroff As long as there is symmetry, you don’t need 2 pillows per person. If you sleep alone, you could add a puffy pillow for looks , with your actual sleeping pillow under it. In summer I only place a light cotton quilt, a napping blanket, and all pillows on the bed. No duvet or comforter. In winter, the puffy duvet comes out, and I may even keep the quilt on for its color. Yes the floor is dirty, unless you have a no shoes indoors policy in your house and no pets. Some people buy large baskets to throw the sitting pillows, and napping blanket into at night. I put them on a chair. You can also place them on top of your end-of-bed bench. Some even come with storage, like basket/cabinet space or are like an ottoman.

There is zero scientific evidence supporting this. Someone told you this along the way in your life and you believed it. You are surrounded by scents in your life; food, pollution, animals, people’s natural odor. But you’ve CHOSEN which scents bother you as a self fulfilling prophecy. In fact there is no way to test for scent “sensitivities” either. This is my biggest pet peeve as a nurse.
@heavenmcguire79442 жыл бұрын
@@chuckbuckets8825 You're very ignorant--SCENTS are absolutely not the problem. SCENTS are perfectly natural. Are you aware of the ingredients in most candles/perfumes/air fresheners? They are toxic, that is a fact. I am obviously not talking about body odor, scents from food, flowers etc, as I mentioned that essential oils or beeswax candles are fine. Nobody ever had to tell me they are bad for me. I got headaches from simply walking into Sephora or department stores from a very young age because of all the perfume. My biggest pet peeve is a patient is nurses who think they are experts in anything at all.
@musclvr3772 жыл бұрын
Thank you for bringing this up. I have extreme sensitivity to any fragrance and most cleaning products. I cringe before going into any new space, bracing for a wall of scent. Others have asthma and allergies (my reactions are not actually allergic, but neurological toxic reactions but for simplicity and understanding, I usually tell someone I am allergic and get an immediate massive headache with exposure to fragrance/chemicals) Clean does not have a scent, and the wonderful neutrality of having no fake fragrances is wonderful to me. I know some people don't really care, but these fragrances cause indoor air pollution and fill your environment with toxins that damage your health. If some really needs to freshen their space, simmering some spices can do the trick.

Spot on with sense of smell. That and clean…we 2.5 bathrooms and no counter space. Clean clutter free and smells nice. I’m in!

Great tip about the sense of smell. I doesn’t matter how beautiful your house is decorated. If it doesn’t have a pleasant fragrance, no one would like to stay.
