$10 AMTRAK Train from Washington DC to Philadelphia (First Train in the USA 🇺🇸 Travel Vlog)

In this USA Travel Vlog, we take the Amtrak train from Union Station in Washington DC to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia for only $10 each! Unfortunately the train was scheduled to leave Union Station at 4:55am! We took an uber to the train station really early. While the Union Station in Washington DC looks like a very nice station, everything was closed at 5am except for McDonalds. Even though we got to the train station early, there was already a really long line waiting to board the train! We got in line and waited. As we had coach class tickets, we didn't have assigned seats. We had to walk through the coach train cars until we found empty seats. Luckily the seats on Amtrak were really nice! They had tables that folded down, plugs at each seat, and the Amtrak seats reclined as well. As we didn't have big suitcases, we opted to put our backpacking backpacks in the overhead storage and our small backpacks we kept with us. As soon as the train started moving there was an announcement that the cafe car was open. We were surprised that the train cafe car was open at 5am! We waited for the Amtrak employee to come check our tickets before walking through the train to the cafe car. The train cafe was stocked with lots of snacks, coffee, sandwiches, and alcohol (although we're not sure if you could purchase alcohol on the train at 5am 😅). We were also surprised that the cafe car had nice big tables with their own plugs as well! Before arriving in Philadelphia, we filmed the Amtrak train bathroom. There is a bathroom in every Amtrak car. There are also signs on each side of the car - one says restroom this end and the other sign says the restroom is on the other end of the car. The bathroom was very big and surprisingly clean! It was stocked with lots of toilet paper, soap, paper towels, etc. It also got a little bumpy when I was filming in the bathroom so it's good there is also a handrail in there. Right outside of the bathroom there was a water fountain with paper cups too!
When we arrived at 30th Street Station in Philadelphia we had to get off the train and wait for our next train (it was cheaper for us to book two trains separately between Dc to Philly then Philly towards Harrisburg PA). We got off the train, went up the escalator to 30th Street Station, and our gate was already listed on the departures board. Luckily there were many cafes and food stalls open in 30th Street so we were able to buy some more food and get in line. We boarded the train and were surprised at how many seats were available! Our two trains (the North East Regional from DC to Boston and the Keystone Amtrak from Philly to Harrisburg) were both the same on the inside - complete with plugs and reclining chairs. We boarded the train in 30th Street and headed home past many corn fields. Once we arrived at Elizabethtown Station, the conductor made sure we were aware of our stop and got off the train. Overall it was a great train experience and very convenient to get from Washington DC to Central Pennsylvania!

We love trains!!! One of our best trips ever was from Lancaster Co (Elizabethtown) to San Francisco, stopping at different locations. More people should use trains and support the US train system. Great info in this video!

$10 is crazy I take this route often both ways between Dc and Philadelphia and I don’t think I have ever seen tickets that cheap but I’m also not getting up at 4am lol 😂
