Amazing. Who'd have thought that footage of the launch trailer would turn up? The BBC had been trying in vain to find their answer to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, then it arrived quite inconspicuously in the bowels of the BBC Two afternoon schedule. The mistake I think they made with it, was that once it took off and conquered the prime time BBC One schedule they should have dropped the lower budget original version. It undermined the show's integrity. BBC One was pumping out a pimped up version whilst BBC Two continued to use bits of card for the voting. Weakest Link was the first ever show to beat Millionaire in the ratings, and what the BBC should have done is immediately pull the afternoon shoe box version and pump all its energy into letting it do for BBC One what Millionaire did for ITV.
