It is real. When they ounch they have to connect so that the other person knows when to react. Only thing is they dont hit hard as it looks and they use open fists instead of closed fists. 85% of the time everything connects, and when it doesn't that's called a "botch" it's a botch (mess up) because they were supposed to hit them and didnt and people could see it. Theres also botches like Batista tripping over the rope, or titus tripping and sliding under the ring. BUT when they fail to connect punches it's a botch. Ive done wrestling training for years therefore I know what to do. If it wasnt, then they wouldnt get red chests or even bleed when chopped. If it wasnt, then when their hit with chairs, kendo sticks, pant belts, etc they wouldnt have welps, and bruises on them. The ring is made of Metal, and 2×4s get slammed on metal and 2×4s it hurts. U can say its scripted, predetermined all day long. You cant fake falling 20 feet through a table, you cant fake a human being being thrown from scaffolds. The only thing I will say that 100% dont touch the opponent is sledgehammer shots especially to the head, and the cachairto

there are times when if they know that the wrestler could take a serious hit of the weapon, they would do so. there's a match, i think it's bigshow, when tripleH actually hit him in the back with a full swing. it will always depend on the wrestler's ability to take hard hits, it has always been that way, which is why undertaker became what he is now, and mankind as well for that matter.

These are either wrong or obvious. The WWE doesn't add weapon noises nor are most the the weapons fake (Fire Extinguishers and the good ol gimmick guitar being ones that are fake). You either have weapons that make great sounds but can be used relatively safely (Chairs if not to the head. Kendo sticks are meant to hurt less than an actual stick, even though they still hurt, etc etc), or are used carefully (sledge hammer). The sound thing is just totally pulled out of their ass. If watch any low budget indie show, it all sounds the same because it's either the sound the weapon makes or its something where the wrestler does a stomp or a thigh slap. The only time I've seen sound effects added to a wrestling show (besides crowd noise) was Lucha Underground..

Geron Fletcher very few things are gimmicked. The tables are plywood cheap stuff, the chairs are real and since headshots aren't allowed by Wwe anymore they don't have to use the hand as protection like a headbutt spot would have. If you see a guitar it probably had the bracing inside removed however. Or cutting wood from a trophy so it breaks easier. The break away plywood ladders are obvious, as well.

Daniel Tinker there are two types of chairs that look and sound quite similar, steel and metal. They use metal because it's obviously lighter and not lethal unlike a real steel chair. The reason they don't do chairshots to the head is because wwe has moved from the tv 14 attitude era to the tv pg family friendly era. I'm so tired of seeing them bring chairs out only to see them get hit in the back, bring back the ecw hardcore style use of weapons.

To Julian L. The chair shots to the head was removed for various reasons, but the biggest one is the connection to CTE issues and concussions. I hate (I really do) saying this but the incident that happened with the Benoit family was a result of the accumulation of concussions, hence the CTE issue. Repeated head butts and chair shots to the head over his career is what led to his state at the end of his life. That was a sad and very unfortunate event that day. :'( If there was a safe way to bring back the Attitude Era of the mid 90's to early/mid 2000's I would believe they would. It is just so difficult for the industry to do it. Take a look at the indies and other promotions. They do avoid chair shots to the head as much as they possibly can. Paul Hayman on Stone Cold's Podcast stated that if he knew that chair shots to the head caused these problems for wrestlers he would never have allowed it to happen in ECW.
