10-Ball - Germany's JOSHUA FILLER faced off against Filipino ROBERTO GOMEZ in the second round of the 2022 Derby City Classic Big Foot Challenge on the 10-foot Diamond Pool Table. Filler, 24, won the 2021 International Big Foot Challenge and was still riding high from his win on Team Europe at the 2021 Mosconi Cup. Gomez, 36, had his best year in prize money earnings in 2021, ranking 8th in earnings.
Mark Wilson and Jeremy Jones were once again in the booth.

at 30:57, the magic rack alters the natural path of the balls drastically, the cue ball actually hit the 10 ball at least twice, and i think froze the balls to each other.

That magic rack type system hosed Gomez pretty good. Roberto has a good attitude. I think I would have broken my stick over my leg at some point. Hard to watch, and REALLY unusual.

This is the reason why Gomez is one of the most underrated Filipino pool players, he keeps on choking and missing those typical shots. Nothing exciting to watch him play in international competition, he's just like playing in a local money game.

Yes, he misses a lot of easy shots, or at least misses shots you don't expect professionals to miss very often. He has a lot of talent, but he certainly needs to refine is game and become more consistent. His stroke needs work, that is for sure.

Should have moved the template on rack 8. What sense does it make to move it after the cue ball is added? That whole situation wouldn't have happened if the ref had simply taken the few seconds to remove it. Simply ridiculous.

Roberto is number 46 on FargoRate which means there's 45 people on that list who are percentage wise more likely to win. Filler happens to be on the top of the FargoRate list with 47 points more. Filler hardly looses. Of course if Filler has a very bad day and Roberto has a particular good one, Roberto could win but it's just not very likely. Apparently they choose Roberto because of his great 2021 earnings but in reality and after seeing the match he really never had a chance IMHO

Roberto was not chosen, it is how the bracket set up. Gomez has a lot of talent, but he needs to work on his stroke and get much more consistent. He missed far too many easy shots and a guy like Filler is going to kick your ass if you miss like that.
