i used to follow all your vlogs until i came to canada. congratulations on the passport. Glad to see success stories even in these days. My experience as a PR, as an experienced person in canada, has been underwhelming and a bit disppointing. after giving it a shot for 2 years, trying to find a better job and lead a good life, i find myself having caused damage to my existing career. my mistake was to not do a soft landing and come after getting a good job. now 2 years later, i am wrapping up and returning back home. i am hopeful of getting a good job and coming back, but for now its a good bye to Toronto and canada. all the best.

Just one correction here guys (I also had this assumption though): 185 countries are not visa free or visa on arrival, in many cases, you have to apply and pay online to get e-visa :)

One of the country is Australia where Canadians are allowed to apply online for a visa free entry before landing in Australian airports. Whereas Australians are granted entry upon arrival at the Canadian airports without applying online first.. Australians are allowed to stay for maximum six months without work. Same is allowed for Canadians in Australia. The package for Canadians comes with six month stay without work too.

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that expats have the right to vote in federal elections no matter how long they have lived outside the country. In a 5-2 decision, a majority of justices said the infringement to charter rights is not justified. Writing for the majority, chief justice Richard Wagner said voting is a "fundamental political right, and the right to vote is a core tenet of our democracy." "Any limit on the right to vote must be carefully scrutinized and cannot be tolerated without a compelling justification," the judgment reads. The Liberal government already passed legislation last month that guaranteed voting rights to all Canadians residing outside the country, but Friday's ruling could have the effect of preventing future governments from enacting legislation to limit voting rights for citizens living abroad. Previous legislation enacted in 1993 barred non-residents from voting if they lived outside the country for more than five years. It was loosely enforced until the Conservative government of Stephen Harper, triggering a charter challenge by two Canadians living in the U.S. who were barred from voting in the 2011 election. Gillian Frank and Jamie Duong, who worked at American universities because they could not find work in Canada, said they maintained deep ties to the country despite their residence abroad. The judgment highlighted the global nature of modern society, and says that denying voting rights to non-resident citizens simply because they have crossed an "arbitrary" five-year threshold "does not stand scrutiny."

Now this might label me as negative, but am here willing to debate with my opinion and trying to convince myself why I should apply for one. 1. Voting rights : So far I have never voted in India, so voting for Canada, not a real selling point that I should leave my Indian citizenship. 2. Certainty and peace of mind : compared to all other facts been faced daily, like no good job opportunities, sucking medical systems, inflated cost of living, high taxes. Now these are a daily nuances. Is applying for PR once in 5 years really a problem? 3. Ease of travel, travel to 185 countries: Being an Indian I have yet travelled all parts of India in last 45 years. Now come one with the income you generate here and what you can save, will you really be able to really take advantage visiting 185 countries. Yes if one wants to run away from Canada after obtaining citizenship, like to US, then that's fine, but even US isn't a heaven any more. 4. Job opportunities government: All government jobs including forces accept PR applications, this rule was amendment, not because of their love for PR holders, getting cheap labor is a challenge in Canada. 5. Children getting citizenship: without doubt if you have migrated with your family, then by default your children get citizenship, so not really a brownie point. 6. Political participation: Does one really migrate to Canada to participate in Politics, let's be straight everyone has moved here for better quality of Life and economic growth quickly, and we realize it once we hit here how challenging it is. So not a selling point. 7. Dual citizenship/OCI for indians: Yes definitely for war torn countries and which allow Dual citizenship, but I still have to explore how easy is it to obtain Indian citizenship for OCI card holder. As age passes and priorities change getting better health benefits are more important. Welcome comments which don't agree to above points, if you echo give a thumbs up.

Have one question.we came in canada in july 2019.and went after 2 months.i came back in March 2020 but my husband was in karachi but unfortunately on 15 March covid attack.but my husband didnt come. He came in May 2021.Then we went karachi after 15 months. Stayed there for 6 months. Then we came back . my 3 years completed but my husband didnt. So in 5 years he didnt complete 3 years. His 1095 days will be complete in 20 Nov 2024. But some body told us that he missed his 5 years period so he is not eligible for citizenship.plz guide us whether he is eligible or not or he had to cimple his days within 5 years period.
