Bleh...go Kiss a GS 1250 in a corner. We all know its a dentist-bike that never sees adventure or goes offroad. Except for maybe actor McGregor and his friend. But bikers know the truth. So please, look at small adventure bikes like for instance the new Yamaha 700 tenere if you want adventure and stop being a GS 1250 fan-boy like everybody else who buy's one and than go on one weekend-trip what they could have done on a common tour-bike. Really start to resent the gs 1200 series.

I used to have an '05 KTM640 Adv. The quintessential Adventure bike. It was a great bike that I used on 6 major Trips in the Australian outback/deserts and many shorter trips in the 90000kms I put on it. Sensational bike for the purpose. These things here are nice bikes no doubt, but boy I wouldn't like to handle one all geared up in the bulldust. Dear KTM, if you read this, please, please, do an Adv version of the 690 along the lines of the 640. I'll be your launch customer.

Enormi profili in plastica che dominano tutto il design della moto. Il motore ormai uno scatolone di acciaio come nelle auto, nascosto sotto le coperture di plastica. Elettronica come alla NASA. Aspetto della moto ormai dominato dal gusto tutto Giapponese di Mazinga Zeta o Jeeg Robot d'acciaio anche se tedesca. Si belle ma che noia. Fortuna per gli occhi quando esce la Guzzi con pochissima plastica e il potente bicilindrico che esce da sotto il serbatoio bucando il telaio a fare da stupendo protagonista, come era una volta, quando il motore di una moto era la prima cosa che saltava all'occhio, al pari di un essere meccanico-vivente.. E infine la Royal Enfield, assenza totale di plastica, motore ancora stupendamente alettato, niente elettronica. Spartana essenziale come una moto di un tempo, prima del film Guerre Stellari. Concludendo, sono tutte bellissime, ognuna ha un suo perche. Ma meno male che Guzzi e RE esistono ancora. Per i mie gusti.

I'm missing the Honda Crosstourer (VFR1200X) and Honda failed big time with the badly crafted plastic cases. Soft panniers are better for adventure but when you wanna go for the convenience of hardcases they should be aluminium and top loading.

Increased the capacity which didn't need to be increased, for what. To increase the hp to over 100 hp. What's the point. If it's an off road adventure bike and it's down over 200 kg how you supposed to lift it up if you come off while riding off road with it loaded up. It's a glorified road bike. Don't need all that hp off road-pointless. 700-800 cc around 80 hp plenty good enough but get that weight down and use tubeless spoked wheels.

Anytime a Moto Guzzi is included on a best bikes list you have to question everything. Search for best Harley motocross bike..or unicorn ranch. And when did adventure mean riding on a dirt road? Many of these beasts tilt the scale at 500lbs and that is with no camping junk in the bags..don't know what an adventure entails for most here but take a loaded monster over some whoooops at 25+mob and an adventure will appear

Now, street bikes are adventure bikes too? I guess now there is only one description of motorcycles out there and they all fall into this category. Street tires, 500lb + machines, metal, chrome, rubber pegs, slick tires, road suspension. Wow, Why did they not include the harley fat bob? I could take that anywhere any of these beast go. We got a problem, we cannot actually differentiate bike groups anymore because of a word everyone wants to use. To sell and to be cool I guess.

The Kawasaki Versys models are a joke as adventure bikes, sure use the 650 engine bore it to 700 cc, put it in a high clearance frame, bashplate, engine protection, KLR 650 replacement solved, Versys 1000 needs a twin version to take on the Africa Twin, Vstrom etc.
