I bought my domain in Godaddy and built my organization. Then they wrote 10 times higher prices in my next year!!! So Asked them how this is possible, they said it is market prices it happens. Then, I had to quit it, because I dont wanna pay ten times higher prices each year and how much it will be in ten years??! lots of trouble because of them. So if you wanna make a brand never ever ever buy a domain from godaddy if you dont wanna end up paying thousands of dollars only for a domain name. Please like my comment so that nobody will lose money like me...

There has been software available for the past several year which allows you to basically create your own domain register and which allows you to cut out the middleman bs and other bs sites like godaddy!

Welcome to registering a domain name :) This is why alternatives like .co and .net exist. It's hard to get a good .com today. Just keep trying, worst case you may need to buy it off the person who owns the domain you want.

Someone said they're is software that allows you to do your own domains now and cut out the middleman but I don't know what it's called as I just read the comment here and your comment section and I'm wondering if you would know anything about that and if so could you tell us the name of it please ? They've done their best to re-brand and change their reputation. They offer good hosting, a decent website builder and solid email. But their affiliate program is poor and their domain registration is too expensive.

Who said 5 years? You can register for 1 year and then renew if your site sticks around.

One of the reasons people will sometimes advise you to buy several years at a time, is to stop these places hiking up prices at a later time, effectively holding you to ransom, especially if your business is successful. Of course... the downside to buying many years at a time, is (as David hinted at), if your site is unsuccessful, you haven't lost all that extra cash. It's a gamble.

GoDaddy DOES have 24 hour phone service with English speaking people and that is their main advantage I'd say. GD is not worth the extra cost considering all of the "how to" videos on KZbin and forums like NamePro. GDs $4.99/yr auction membership is good however.
