If your following the the channel for awhile, you'd know that gameranx doesn't really have a direct negative opinion on games when they say something good they make sure it's loud and clear but when it comes to bad things in the games reviewed they often "dance" around it, they like to say there is a bad thing but also say it's not really bad or not so bad as you might think, even if it's a really bad thing in said game, that's the only reason i don't take their reviews for granted, but hey, that's the only negative thing in this channel.

The Ascent is a phenomenal game. Forza 5 is unbelievable, I have a hard time putting that one down. Gas Station Simulator is a lot of fun, my friends and I were handing off the controller and having a blast. I'd recommend these 3 games for at least a trial period.

Scarlet Nexus isn't open-world, but there ain't no denying the areas in the game are so well crafted, so varied, and with great music to boot. And I'd be a fool to not mention how satisfying the combat is, especially with the PS5 Dualsense. I've been really wanting to replay it, and I would be right now if it weren't for my backlog.

If Scarlet Nexus is here, the Tales of Arise should definitely be here as well. Tales of Arise is one of my favorite open world rpg games that came out this year! Great dynamic combat gameplay, a breathtaking world, fun quirky characters, excellent voice acting. It really tops as one of the best ones out there

@@eetsleepsk8 Yeah I dropped it as well. The game was gorgeous, but the dialogue, acting (English) and writing was terrible. Moved on to Shin Megami Tensei V and can’t stop playing that. The world is also just a linear corridor, and while that is fine and well done in some games, it feels dated here. The characters are pretty cliche and tropey, which is common in JRPGs, but it really stood out here. Stunning looking game though, loved the visuals. Edit: SMT V also does the world much better. The exploration is top notch and one of the best I’ve ever come across. Also, the music in ToArise is forgettable and generic, which is surprising as JRPGs tend to have great, memorable music.

I want to say that the Ascent was the surprise sleeper hit of the year but man, Guardians of the Galaxy also delivered a welcome happy surprise in it's own way too. Loved the Ascent tho...the attention to detail in the environments was stunning and there is sooooooooooooo much potential there if they can get AAA funding and staff behind development of the sequel. I expect the next one to cause many a blown wad.

The Ascent is one of my favourite games of the year. The way they used the camera angles to add verticality to the areas is beautiful. Also you can visit all of the areas you can see. I can't wait for NG+ and more content that's going to be added next year.

I really liked Biomutant. Was a quirky and interesting world that was very bright and colorful. Combat was generally pretty good and exploration was good too. Got 100% on it. Nothing that is all that groundbreaking but a fun couple of weeks nonetheless.

"Ascent" is very under-appreciated for sure...but I think that's mostly down to the so-so weapon selection where a lot of this style of game has random affixes to prolong grind. I've restarted 2-3 times just because I've learned new stuff and wanted to take that knowledge and apply it in the start. Xbox Game Pass has it for free if you're subbed to it.

Is Scarlett nexus like free roam open world? Or is it divided into sections? If so, is it like 2 or 3 mains sections with other locations within them? Or does it have like 8 different locations you have to fast travel to in order or access them? And are they accessible just once through the main story?

Biomutanta needed work on its repitiveness part but I loved the crafting in it. Combat was pretty good. I think ghost of tsushima made me feel the most badass though. Especially when you hit all your perfect parries and follow ups.

This list is only for open world games. There wasnt a ton of great games this year, but this year had some of the best games to date for their genre. MSFS2020 is by far the best flight game to date. Forza Horizon 5 is the best arcade racing game ever. It Takes Two is one of the best co-op games ever. Hades is one of the best roguelikes ever. Psychonauts 2 was great as well.

My Far Cry interests have never really extended past a rental. Far Cry 6 is great. Lots to do, lots of secrets, great vehicles, and the parkour flow is solid. I love playing this game.

No the definitive edition is not the same as the old one, it's the worse version of it. They take away more features than the one they add though. For a mobile game come from some unknown developer? sure this is great but for Rockstar and Take Two then this is a disaster
