As a Portuguese, I sympathise. When in 2012 you played the final vs Spain, and there was bound to be a first time winner, I was rooting for the Netherlands. Spain just barely won all their games, except against Honduras. Now the title of best national team to have never won it is a fight between Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands, but of course the Netherlands are much more deserving, for the history and contribution to the game. Belgium and Portugal are but a decade wonder.

2006 Brasil was way better than Argentina: Ronaldinho at his top career moment. Kaká about to be the best player of the world (2007). Adriano at his top career moment. Dida, one of the best goalkeepers at that point; And just to name 4 players, we still had Ronaldo, Zé Roberto, Emerson, Roberto Carlos, Cafu...the base of the 2002 champion team. The sixth World Cup title didn't come because we lacked a good coach, that could keep that champion team hungry for more and more. Argentina was a good team, sure... but just not that good.

We suffered through shitty coach decisions then too...but you're right, Brazil was amazing on paper. They didn't show it in the tournament though...Argentina did. It was bad luck getting our goalie injured and, as mentioned, a bad call from the coach to switch out Riquelme at the end against Germany that killed the team.

If anything, Argentina's 2010 squad was even better than their incredible team of 2006, but was unfortunately ruined by one man: Diego Maradona. He never used Diego Milito, arguably the best striker in the world that year. He never used Walter Samuel, arguably in the top-5 best CBs that year. He didn't even call-up Cambiasso or Zanetti, who were crucial in Inter Milan winning the Treble that same season. If they had a semi-competent coach that year, they easily could've made it to the final.

Chri Pedro The only match at this world cup they won was a 2-0 win against Ecuador. They lost their second group game against Croatia and were facing tournament elimination until their scored an equalizer in the 85th minute versus Mexico. They advanced with 4 points and than were eliminated by hosts South Corea. That is not top5, maby they had a quality lineup but this video is more about unlucky elimination after playing a great tournament.

2006 Argentina was not allowed a clear Penalty against Germany. Maxi Rodregous was clearly fouled inside the penalty box. Referee disallowed. Otherwise result would've been different. I think you have some clear problems with Argentina.
