Sound effect? Nonono, Henri. Rodney mentions COIN games so much that the sound effect has started happening in real life. The microphone just picked it up. It's a distressing, but completely unsurprising, affliction. That, and his feet fell off. -Chaz

I'm always down for scrumptious eats at Tacoburger especially after they push out the local fantasy populace. The meat tastes better when it's salted with elf tears. Chaz, did you get the dwarvish decoder ring that comes in the kid's meals? I've heard it unlocks their mines. The dwarves were too greedy, they dug to deep, they awoke Shadow and Flame. Which is like the primo taco seasoning. A little spicy but worth it.
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
I think there may be something wrong with my dwarvish decoder ring. Every time I put it on, I turn invisible, see wraiths chasing me, and have an irresistible urge to travel to the local volcanic lair. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt. On a side note, what DOESN'T taste better when salted with elf tears? -Chaz
@shonx1462 Жыл бұрын
@@WatchItPlayed It's working. Those wraiths are just hosts. It's all cosplay. Just let them take the ring and if they "stab" you and you start to feel like you're becoming one of them, just know there's a great benefits package. The health insurance is so great, it's like you could live forever.

Aaron Wilson recently guested on Salt n Sass talking about how implementing some rules from board games in American football would improve the game. It was so interesting thinking about the tabletop game influencing the real life game instead of it being the other way around like it usually is!

When I was a kid I thought soccer (ok, Association Football for the “well actually” crowd 😛) was primarily a women’s sport because of the Air Bud movie featuring the women’s World Cup. This was years before my younger siblings started playing and Ronaldinho and Messi became household names, but I was never much of a sports guy and was more of a baseball guy anyway. And I actually did back a early 1900s baseball management kickstarter so you might be onto something. (Insert explanation of what baseball is for Matthew Jude here)

Another difference between Times Up and Monikers is the word selection - Times Up Title Recall is all movie/show/book/song titles, and Monikers has more meme/internet type stuff. I feel like Monikers also doesn’t expect you to know the things you’re guessing (I never knew many movies and pop culture things so games like Title Recall where you need to know those made me feel left out).

I'm fairly new to board gaming in general and Dominion really intrigues me. However, I'm a bit of a collector/perfectionist so I would want all the expansions to have a complete collection. So while I want to, I'll probably hold off on Dominion until I can afford all FIFTEEN expansions (which is just bonkers).
@Leron... Жыл бұрын
This mentality is exactly why I don't own Catan, Small World, Dominion, Ticket to Ride, Welcome To..., etc. I recognize it's a flawed way of looking at things but there's so many other games out there that I'm okay with not having these.

I have heard sports games are very tricksy to simulate in a board game. I have played a few that did not feel very...active. I think it is a big challenge, but one we may master this decade! ^_^ There are so many wonderful game designers to give it a try!

I agree that sports games seem to be extra challenging to replicate in tabletop form. On the one hand, you'd think sports would lend themselves to it, because they're also games. I have a card game called "Goal" which I cannot find online anywhere(a very generic title doesn't make for an easy google search), where you have cards that move a ball on the board and you play them down(with a few extra elements). It is surprisingly easy to learn and not bad. Only real problem is the board is literally just the ball token and a grid so it looks really dull. The card art was pretty okay.

Having done exactly (zero) research, and knowing and knowing exactly (diddly squat) about non-American football, or most other sports-ball games, my gut instinct is that we don't have more sports board games because the disparity between board gamers and sports enthusiasts seems pretty wide...
