Great list! You hit some classics and brought out a few new books I haven’t heard about. Before I knew what books were going to be on your “Top 10” list, I had guessed Uncle Tom’s Cabin as one of them. I missed the mark on that one. Gaining perspective IS important. It not only builds knowledge, but empathy towards cultures we are unfamiliar with. Thanks for helping to bridge the gap.

@@susiehallstrom944 Thank you!! Uncle Tom's Cabin is also a great one, especially for understanding the abolitionist movement!

Good list. I guess you meant "works of fiction" . "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn

@@AnnaAnna-uc2ff true! Should've said novels instead of books, but oh well! Great job fiction rec, though!

@ just came across left wing ( US definitions) in my opinion. In KZbin I think it shouldn’t be so US history focussed. In. Fact I think that’s the US downfall. Should look at the world more. In Australia, we should stop focusing on Aboriginals for example. Battle 1066 has more meaning as to where we are today than those issues. In my opinion.
