Some more ideas for what you purchased: A take on Rice-a-roni (I'll leave the recipe), debone some of the legs and use the bones and skin for a pot of broth to make chicken rice soup or chicken noodle soup using the ramen, You could turn some of that broth into a "cream of chicken soup" (my packet bin has half and half and sour cream in it) for a chicken rice or noodle casserole with some of the vegetables, chicken salad or egg salad on sandwiches (mayo from the packet bin) for lunch, Leftovers for lunch if you are making a variety of things during the week for dinner. The rice-a--roni take off: A hand full of assorted vegetables (your mixed veg and scallions are perfect for this) browned in a little oil in a frying pan along with a hand full of rice. WHen the rice is toasty add some chicken (or beef or vegetable) broth (even the packet from the ramen would be good if you had nothing else) and simmer about 20 minutes. Break up some of the ramen into 3/4 inch pieces and add along with some shredded chicken - heat until the pasta is done, check seasonings and eat.

@@SavingwithAlexis Also if you put a bit of lemon juice on it that should help to stop it going brown, even lime juice works as well, anything acidic basically, then just wrap it in some cling wrap and keep it in the fridge.
@goodsamwise4 жыл бұрын
So the avocado pit just prevents the surface of the avocado from getting exposed to air but the parts it doesn’t touch will still brown. So use cling wrap instead , pressed against the exposed parts.

Does anyone read what it says on the drumsticks? It says that they don't feed the chicken antibiotics that let them grow faster, but it doesn't say that they don't feed them any antibiotics. Then it says "no added hormones or steroids", which just means that they didn't put that stuff in AFTER the animals were already slaughtered. It doesn't mean they don't "enrich" the chicken food with hormones. Make sure to read what it says on the packages.

This is what people don't understand about 'Western poverty' - cheap food frequently lacks nutrition. If you want to eat cheap and healthy think differently. For example a carrot top kept in a dish of water will sprout, the carrot greens are great in salads, they have a mild carrot flavour. Beetroots can also be used similarly. Windowsill salad, from offcuts.

@@Michelle-pn9xt What many people seem to lack is a plan. I often go to the more expensive store in town as it is the closest. Watch the sale prices and be flexible. I scored big on some meat markdowns a couple of weeks ago. Before "our current health situation" I went at least a couple of times a week and always found something to add to my food storage on the cheap. But I must admit that I am very fortunate to have a flexible budget. I eat pretty cheap but have money to spend on extras. I know that others are not so flexible for budget and I really appreciate these videos
