Those defrosting plates used to be very popular in the United States. But they had a problem with building up bacteria which is why they're hard to find here now.

Love that pan. I've got a kitchen table setup similar to that and we found that putting the bench side near the wall lets us push the table back easier when we need more room, since we more rarely use the bench over the chairs.

I liked that you put that white lil carpet with those books and the cute white owl near your entrance, just at the Genkan ♡ feels like the lil owl is saying 'okaeri'. And that defroster 😮😱 OMG so wonderful. Yeah, you are right: when you wanna cook at the microwave some food that is frozen, it's difficult. So, I totally love the mat defroster. And the pan with 3 spaces , also one of my favorites. And it's such a greate idea the cover for the stove 😅 I'm also kind of messy when I'm cooking so.. Hi Chani, enjoyed your vid, as per. If it makes you feel any better the temperature in London is about the same (like Japan, it's going to get colder too). We do see snow in London but not every year, that's fine as it quickly turns to slush anyhoo. It's 2 in the arvo here n a very dark day. So you're not alone. When you mentioned lack of fridge space, something you may already be aware of, it's something i used to do when i didn't have a fridge (not in summer obviously). I used to put bits n bobs outside the back door or on the windowsill. Beers, milk n other bits stay super cold, it works a treat. It may help you, if you haven't thought of it already. Also, some great gadgets, i think the Japanese are brilliant for things like that. Stuff you don't think of but are perfect for the job. I bet you're looking forward to seeing your family, have a fabulous time! ✌🏼🍻🌻

My Esme is the same. So I understand. Sending lots of love to you two. Just a thought you might consider a round wooden folding table it might be more flexible in the space. I have one in my kitchen when it's just my family. One of the flaps is down and it goes against the wall nicely. If I have more people coming, pull the table away from the wall, lift the other flap, and we can sit at least another 3 people. I am looking forward to your next adventure.@ChaniJapan

When I was in Japan last month we went to a homeware store, there were so many interesting different things for the kitchen i brought a few things but I could have got more. I brought one of those small drink bottles you have it’s a great size i use it all the time, I wish I had brought the next size up it keeps the drink so cool. Millie is so cute

Oh the coolness of all the gadgets - the Japanese have all bases covered. My two favorites were the defrosting plate and the cool magnets that you used on the fridge. We need a 3 coin store in the states

I remember seeing infomercials for defrosting plates like that in the US in the 90s! What a blast from the past lol.

Love the video. I can relate to buying things to help motivate me to clean a particular area in my home. I love all the little things you bought too! My cats do the same thing as yours did on the couch. LOL! Happy Holidays!

I loved the style of everything from 3 coins also. The colours are perfect. Your kitty is so adorable. Loved how you bought the phone clip for them to watch their fish program lol Loved the drink bottle also. It's the perfect size for a bag. I wonder if they ship to Australia. I will have to check. Thanks for showing us your life.

Chani, please provide more information on the tea you drink and/or about the different teas Japanese drink and why. I see many drink tea in place of water or soda. Thanks.

3:47 I would put the bench against the wall and leave the chairs on the outside. That way, most of the time you could keep the table all the way flush against the wall, just pulling out the table when time to eat. I, personally, would prefer to sit on a chair rather than the bench so having them on the outside of the table will make them more convenient to use when alone, and it will be more floor space in the kitchen. Also when pulling out the chairs, someone might ding the wall. Added benefit, is that those using the bench have a wall to lean against as a backrest. I’m also not sure that it should be in that direction. I think you have limited space to get through the area between the table, the bench corner (or is that white thing a garbage can?), and the exterior door, to get to the refrigerator. But you’ll know better after living with it for a few days, especially when you’re not dining or using the kitchen alone.
