regarding Glenn Miller.. according to TCM, a crew of bombers were returning to the mainland and as a safety measure they were required to drop what ever bombs were left because if the plane crashed they would set off explosions so to prevent that they dropped them.. the bombers were flying over the English Channel about the same time as Glenn Miller's plane was suppose to be over the Channel. Due to low visibility it was hard to see and when they dropped the remaining munitions one of the pilots reported seeing a small explosion after he dropped his bombs. since plane wreckage was spotted in 1987 they assume that it in all likely hood Glenn Miller's plane and that the explosion the pilot witnessed very likely could have been his bombs hitting Glenn's plane.

If a bomb had hit the plane, and exploded as reported, the plane, and bodies would be fragmented over a wide area. If a fisherman snagged and raised the plane then it wasn't blown up, if the fusing had been removed from the bombs when dropped then what was the reported explosion?

Regarding Glenn Miller, a recent theory has surfaced that perhaps bombers returning from an aborted Mission over the French Coast jettisoned their Bombs Over the channel before landing, and may have accidentally hit Miller's plane at a lower altitude! I can't remember who put this Theory forward, but there appears to be some evidence supporting the jettisoning of bombs by returning bombers about the time his plane would have been crossing the channel.

The bridge near which Rickey Edward's car was found is called the Severn Bridge; as noted here, it is a route between Wales and England. Not mentioned here is the fact that, as its name suggests, the bridge spans the tidal Severn Estuary which has, at 49 feet, the second highest tidal range in the world, while the rocky river bed creates areas of severe turbulence, so anyone who entered the water from the bridge or nearby land is unlikely to survive and could well be swept out into the wider Bristol Channel. Additionally, Edwards' car was actually located in a motorway service area adjacent to the Bridge, and just above steep cliffs that, at low tide, drop to the edge of the river bed and, at high tide, to the water. Edwards had also experienced periods of depression. I leave it to others to decide, based on the above, whether this disappearance was myterious or not.
