A seemanni for the win! Was my first t and is like a little bulldozer, moving substrate around constantly. As for other "staples" to any collection I also might add G pulchra. I'm getting my first one tomorrow and besides being big and a gorgeous velvety black I've heard that most are pretty easy-going and easy to care for, tho they can be pretty pricey. Thanks Kat for continuing with interesting, quality content and hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!

Thanks for posting Kat! So nice to see another human being during England's lockdown! great video, good video quality, helpful info - some that i really didn't know, so well worth watching!. Interesting to hear what's readily available in America, compared to England. vagans, albopilsum, OBT, parahybana & metalica are all readily available, hamorri are less so (smithi even more so).....almost any Grammostola, or avicularia or GBB the hardest, and the elusive Brachypelma schroederi rare as rockinghorse poo

I wanted a brachypelma because I heard they were relatively chill. Found a beautiful one! Watching your videos is always a treat. I have always wanted a tarantula, but was never in a good enough place to get one (moving cross country multiple times does not lend well to keeping them, I imagine). My ex had a tarantula, not sure what kind, I think it was supposed to be a Rose Hair, but didn't match any of the pics I've seen around of them. It was really dark, almost black in some spots, with reddish brown hairs on the abdomen. Sadly I had to move out and leave the T behind (he wouldn't let me take it with me), with really bad husbandry. Little to no substrate, a foam insert wall to climb, no hides, and my ex wouldn't let me change anything about the tank to give it a better home. I made sure it had water, and bought it feeder insects all the time on the way home from work (divvied out between the beardie, the tokay gecko, and the Chinese water dragon). At one point the T got out, and we thought it was lost in the house somewhere (he left the doors on the exo-terra front opening tank open), and a few days later my ex found it walking up the wall by the front door. He screamed and demanded I catch it, saying he didn't want to touch it. I really wish I had brought it with me when I moved out, and flew back to Maine, but was worried how people would react while in the air to the idea of a tarantula in a kitter keeper on the flight...

I am more or less new to this hobby and I think that I am much older than most of your viewers so I tend to use common names I can remember ... I say more or less because around 35 years ago I had an adult Mexican Red Knee for about 3 years.. given to me by a brother who had her for a number of years ... she was a wonderful pet and I probably handled her far more than you would... but never had a problem.. (if she did not want to be handled she let me know and I was fine with that).. but then I did not have Kat to guide me as I do now..!!! I am now wanting to get back into a few Ts ... I have ordered a juvenile Curly Hair from a local pet store where a couple of clerks are T people... I am also wanting to get another Red Knee online in a week or two (stimulus money helping the economy you know!).. then I am fascinated by the Arizona Blond... do you have any of those Kat??? What do you think of them??.. Oh and by the way ..love your videos and your "tattoos".. Blessed Be

What about A. Geniculata? I feel that's number one to have. Grows more or less fast, grows big, biggest appetite ever, very active, easy to keep. I kinda thought they are a must-have. Haven't seen any tarantula hunt prey as well as this one (mine is a juvenile now but I don't even manage to put a cockroach in her enclosure - she jumps at my tongs and takes it), also quite a designer, always carries substrate somewhere to create a completely different set-up from the one I made. Stays in the open the majority of time.

Our curly hair is a sub adult male and an absolute demon. He won't hesitate to threat pose and slap the ground or attack and bite at the feeding tongs lol. He also has that same coconut hide and he webbed up the entrance and pushed his substrate up against the webbing to make a fortress at the entrance. We check on him periodically to make sure he's okay and we make sure he has water. He's not in pre-molt...he's just very antisocial right now lol.

My first T was a. Avicularia, I got her at about 3/4ths of an inch, always handled her (I didn’t know you weren’t really supposed to handle T’s often) I’d probably handle her once a week, she’s the size of my palm almost now and extremely docile. The most I will do anymore is let her walk on to my hand while misting or to move her away from her enclosure lid. I have a couple others now but she’s still my baby, I used to trust her to crawl on my face and up my arms. It’s not that I don’t trust her to do any of that now, because she’s never done anything to me, I just don’t think it was the brightest idea I’ve ever had. She tolerates my pictures now instead haha

Hi, Just found this video. I am surprised that I have never seen this one. U said u never seen a brown Seemanni? I actually have one. I am the one with the Curly Hair T. Albo sling, lol. He's doing good, btw. My Seemanni I consider a rescue without realizing it, and I am glad I bought her. I got her from a local expo along with a juvie avic avic. I had originally thought my Seemanni was a Pulchripes which is what I actually wanted. I found out later on in a Facebook groups that she was a Seemanni. The reason she's a rescue is cuz she was so badly dehydrated and starving where she looked like she had no butt. Thankfully, she's doing excellent and eats and drinks very well. Still trying to fully plump her up yet. She's so gorgeous. When she don't wanna eat, she actually pushes me away, lol.

I am not into having a HUGE collection so I probably won't go for species I am not as enthusiastic about.
