Honestly I think Europe was over powered and I was suprised that red lost, at the end of the game dark blue was able to sneak into Europe which having many cities in close proximity turned the tides in their favor. Edit: spelling

Europe is pretty tough to defend though until the end game. It is surrounded by enemies on all sides. With no wrap in the Pacific Ocean between North America and Asia or between South America and Australia, it gives Alaska, Chile, Siberia and New Zealand a defensive edge that (in my opinion) outweighs the offensive edge Europe provides. Once blue had secured the Americas, he could focus on Africa and Asia without being flanked.
