At the time of their appearance in the MCU Marvel/Disney didn't have the rights for 'mutants' (Sony did). So another origins had to be created for them. Pity MCU didn't simply waited until they acquired the rights then used them in the movies. That way the original origins could had stayed intact.

@@cheritripp9470 correction; Fox owned the rights to "X-Men" and "Mutants", not Sony. Sony has the rights to any Spider-Man related characters (which is why they can make movies for his villains: Venom, Morbius, Carnage)

I won't lie I like this change. It makes the powers hers, instead of her and shazam being similar. Also makes her connection with the gods a lot more personal. Plus the Trinity is now made out of an Alien, a rich boy and a demigod, makes that dynamic great as well.

@@Druguzu The power would still come from the God that sired her. She would only have that because of her father. And whereas suface level, yes, the Greek pantheon blessing her with abilities is similar to Captain Marvel, he gets his abilities only in that form and it can be taken away. Her powers are innate to her, they cant be easily taken, and she has them at all times. Her being formed of clay also had her set apart from the other two of the Trinity and even the rest of the Amazons, they all had parents, but she was wholly herself, a creation of the gods and her "mother". She was essentially a female Adam or and Eve without an Adam, the first of her line.

But for me I like this, it gives her powers room to grow, also it makes sense in greek mythology, zues was making children constantly. And also, I just liked how it opened her world up, once that became her new origin, she had a lot more stories involving the gods, and not just the amazons or regular villains

When Moira dies the timeline gets reset to the moment of her birth and she retains all of her memories. However, if she dies before she gains her mutant powers than the timeline won't reset.

Roy wasn't killed by Savitar in Sanctuary it was Wally west. Also, Moira didn't get resurrection powers in House of M, it was House and Powers of X.

I don't see how these were improvements. Most of these made the character's continuity way overcomplicated. The only ones I would argue improved from changes were Captain Marvel and Winter Soldier. I'll say this any time the subject comes up: Jason Todd was more interesting when he was dead. Bringing him back was a disaster by mixing his return with Infinite Crisis, only made worse with every return appearance since then, for a major case of diminishing returns.

Carol might disagree with you on that. 😕 I did like Chris Claremont's follow up of Avengers #200. Having the team realized that there clueless actions over Carol's sudden pregnancy cost them her friendship and trust. (I tend to think Marcus was mind controlling the team as well as Carol. Which is why they let her go with him with no protest)

This list is just...bad. Over half the people on it gained nothing or lost character development due to the retcons. Power upgrades do not make a hero better. Cyborg alone was robbed of all his story and development just to put him in the JL. Carol and Scarlet Witch didn't change at all. Steward was robbed worse than Cyborg. Arsenal became boring. Wonder Woman just became a Superman parody.
