I kinda dispute that negative reviews somehow “confirm” it was never meant to be released. Everyone making the film aside from Corman and Eichinger thought it would get at least a small theatrical release, then live on in home video and cable TV. The movie is unavoidably cheap and flawed, but it was made by people who gave it all they could. The film elements are stored at the AMPAS film archive with the elements of many other Corman films, so hopefully Constantin and Marvel can eventually give this a proper, remastered release.

Jerry Lewis made a stipulation when he gave a copy to the Library of Congress that it not be screened until 2025. "But the star hid all the footage, and to this day, the full project has never been seen. Lewis himself said in 2013: “It could have been wonderful, but I slipped up … I didn’t quite get it.” Seven minutes of the film have since surfaced online, and in 2015 Lewis donated a version to the Library of Congress with the stipulation that Clown not be screened until 2025. Lewis died in 2017, aged 91."

No matter how crappy or overly expensive a movie ends up if it's once completed it deserves to be released and let the audience decide it's faith. Not releasing a completed movie for some corporate bullshit financial reason is the highest form of insult to everyone involved in making it, that spend their time and talent to make it happen.

It is not a bad business decision. It saves an incredible amount of money when a movie is written off as a loss and never released. It is a very wise business decision in most cases. The fans aren't the ones losing millions by releasing it. The studio is.

100 Years - a short film written by and starring John Malkovitch and directed by Robert Rodriguez. It is a sci-fi movie set in the year 2115. It has never been released and won't be released until the actual year of 2115. That's a hundred years after it was made (2015). Currently inside a time release vault. We'll never see it in our lifetime. Hope somebody in the future enjoys it and compares the past predictions and speculations about the future with the reality.

Everyone KNOWS about shelved films like Batgirl, Empire s of the Deep, Acme v Coyote, and Scoob! Halloween Haunt, but I gotta admit, I never heard of those others! Oh, and by the way, that 1992 Fantastic Four film? It WAS released, but only on bootleg VHS & DVD and it's on KZbin as well!

The Roger Corman produced Fantastic Four does exist on DVD. And it's 10 times BETTER than all the current FF adaptations. It's loyal to the source material with a cast that actually resemble the characters and it doesn't deserve the negative reviews.

There was a woefully sensationalistic article from World of Reel that called the movie “unreleasable”, which was not only incorrect, but irresponsible. The issue is that the financiers want a wider theatrical release than a film of its ilk is likely to get at present. They’re opposing selling the film to a streamer because they won’t get an immediate return on their investment. I’m sure it’ll get resolved eventually.

Whenever they do this, it makes me want to see them for myself, I want to be the judge as how bad or good it was, not some CEO/Boardmember who cares only about the $$$$ I saw the Fantastic Four movie and yes it was bad, but there is worse from Marvel back in the days. Disney's Snow White however, makes Batgirl appear to be a student movie with its retakes, reshoots and massive blowout budget and it still is not done with... but most of the movies listed here I want to see. so I hope they make thier way out to the world one day, the artists deserve it.

There was a telemovie in the early nineties covering some of the same story. It started a young Hugh Grant as Richard Neville. There are clips of it on KZbin. Based on what I’ve read, at least two of the people depicted in Hippie Hippie Shake were very unhappy about their depiction in the film. I wouldn’t be surprised if legal threats had been made.

Having an IMDB page doesn’t necessarily mean a film has been made, or is going to be made. Plenty of movies that were never made (as well as even more movies in development) have IMDB listings. Normally they get deleted if the film doesn’t ultimately go to production.

The Red Dawn reboot was shelved for years. My history teacher actually worked on that movie before he became a teacher. He told me they filmed it in 2010 and it was basically the US vs China. Because in the early 2010's, hollywood was trying to appeal more to a chineese audience, so they dusted off the b-roll footage, and digitally changed any indication of china with north korea.

This happens more than people think. Some movies will sit in studio vaults for years before it releases. Sometimes studios will sit on movies till a star gets more famous to make more money. Cabin in the woods and ultra violet are examples.

Batgirl I'me not surprised. I actually saw a leaked trailer for it. It looked like a bad TV show special. The Fantastic Four was never going to be released. Thje guy who produced it saw it as a chance to make money. With films like Batman doing well. He hoped to make studios pay upto get the rights to it. If it had been 20 years later he probably would have made a fortune. Sadly he did it when studios weren't looking at making superhero films

They cant release it for 2 reasons. They deleted all copies of it. Also they got an insurance pay out for not releasing it. Basically when they started production. They took an insurance, that if the film never got released they would recieve a pay out instead. The main condition of the pay out was the film never gets released. So WBD deleted all copies to make sure this happened.

Here is the question. If all these movies are been shelved how did you get the information that they are shelved and could people buy? They completed works and put them on a streaming system or even could someone grab a hold of them and just download them into a streaming platform? Because I bet even though that these movies monas tanked with their test group, I say your test. They're testing group that they had were not really big fans of the genre that they're going to be seeing like who'd go to at kids Premier of like a testing of an animated that does not like any cartoons or even like any kids. Why were they put inside this test group and why not little kids? Why not kids with parents be part of the test group to even show these kids on Scooby-Doo? I think that some of these movies that are shelved. Quite a few from Warner Brothers who sseem to make quite a few mistakes, but the no1, omg Batgirl withdrawl who wasnt surprised at David Zaslavs decision, looks like he based the bad reviws on an earlier cut of the film, but he should of tried again in a few locations , Or why has nobody at Warner thought of bringing it out on 4k and 5k steelbook, yes the Flash flopped but it had different issues, including the actor playing Flash, ( What were they thinking ? ) And what they are not thinking of there were tons of disappointed fans both sides of the pond, shame he thinks a tax write off is more important than releasing it on blu-ray, 4k and 4k/steelbook, Sometimes executives make the wrong decisions, And on another Subject Why are you still not releasing Lethal Weapon on 4k ?
