How and when do footballers get their transplant treatment, there's only about 3-5 weeks between the end of the football season and the start? I was led to believe they had to be really careful not to wash or disturb the new hairs for a couple of months yet within a few weeks they're running about on a football pitch again. Do they avoid heading the ball and what happens during the rough and tumble of a game you can't protect your head from a stray arm or a fall. With your average footballer being young and in the public eye I totally understand them opting for a transplant if they start losing their hair but there are a few that have it so thick on top after thinning for years it looks unnatural. I think back to the 70s and the combover sported by Bobby Charlton and Ralph Coates, did they honestly believe we thought they had hair? I had my hair so short for years and it was only in my 60s when I retired I thought about growing it out that I discovered I was going bald on top. I'm 70 now so no need to think about a transplant, I'm just pleased it's become such a common procedure more men feel free to admit to having it done.

I saw Townsend before pics. He had very noticeable receding hair. In the pic in the video he seems to have SMP (scalp tattoo), I can see the ink, hence it being short 'hair'. I think he's since had a transplant since, and had longer hair.
