Actually about the street children they're sometimes kidnapped by strangers and used to beg for money illegally or they are suffering from poverty and has no choice. So I think the best way to help them is to give them food instead of money. Stay safe~
@suiken31494 жыл бұрын
Just giving them food will not solve anything other than filling their stomach for a day. It's better the call the social welfare agencies to take care of them and possibly return them to their parents.
@fiatlux3574 жыл бұрын
It's a very complicated and heartbreaking issue. In some areas I've been to, abusive parents sadly remove their kids from School and force them to beg in the streets to make ends meet or feed an addiction. The Philippine government is limited in their capacity depending on Cities, Provinces and Barangay (districts) with their resources and more times than not, they are down right corrupt and negligent in how community resources and funding are used. Hopefully things improve with implementation and further help from non-profits and local church/community charities.

Fun fact, some of the culture shocks that you have mentioned in your video it's actually because our culture got influenced by the foreigners who ruled over the Philippines like years ago and that is why things are...like that... and also! I love the fact that you also mentioned the taxi driver ripping you off when you enter their cab, it's actually true because we also experience it too like every time we ride a taxi they'll increase the payment, etc. and besides those things, if quarantine is over and the outbreak is already gone I recommend that you ride a Kalesa/Carriage in Intramuros even if there is a bit of an odor from the horses, the experience of riding a Kalesa will be fun since I have ride one before and I enjoyed it. 😸👌

In Cebu, riding a jeepney is easy as long as you know the Number Code attached to the jeepney and ignore the rest. Though asking locals and drivers is encouraged to make sure you are riding the correct jeep.

Jeepney are really confusing but they all have routes like busses. It's a bit unorganized because some roads have 2 or more different routes. They have sign in the front and sides where will they go.

Jeepney direction: Point A → Route (road) → Point B example: Monumento → EDSA → Quezon City You can say 'para' to signal the jeepney to stop Fun fact: back then when you say 'para' they will literally stop. So if you feel like causing a traffic jam that day, you can stop in the middle of an intersection 😎
@Magna_Dragon4 жыл бұрын
Jeepneys have destinations posted on the windshield, but if you're not from the area you will not now what those mean. Like, in my province there are few cards on the front (usually one) but in Manila there's so many I don't know if there's anybody bothered to read them. Their routes are indicated on the sides of the jeep (ie. This place v.v That place via this road)

The reason why most stores don't have change for big money bills is because to prevent the sales clerk or thieves from stealing. It's a deterrent for the thief from robbing the store, if there are only small bills in the cash registers. There are so many impoverish people in the Philippines... it is very sad to see that, the government corruption is so endemic in the Philippines politics that it is very hard to eradicate the corruption.

At least you're being honest but I don't know about the store you went. If it is 7-11 convenience store they will give your change the same with groceries and supermarkets. As for the jeepneys yes you're right they're like mini buses. You should have a companion or tourist guide that is trustworthy when riding a jeepneys. The name plates in front of the jeepneys tells where that place is from.
@onacsareibaj75664 жыл бұрын
You're also right not to trust taxi drivers. Especially when they saw you as foreigner the same thing is happening in France. Sometimes they will ask you to pay more from the real amount of the fare. Use Grab instead.

Honestly, Filipinos (not all pero this is common) need to improve when it comes to being relaxed on time (aka Filipino Time). We should all learn to value and respect other people's time, because it's not for us to waste in the first place. Maging on time tayong lahat (including myself since guilty rin ako dito). Again, I'm not saying that this applies for ALL Filipinos, pero this is very common, but we can always make the choice to improve ourselves. 😉💪🇵🇭

Too bad you experienced some unpleasant things when you visited our country. There are things that the people and the govt must really work on. I hope you had more good memories and that does not discourage you from coming back. Next time you go here, you can probably ask for travel tips from Filipino subscribers. I loved everything when I visited Japan last year. Everything was smooth sailing and great, so I look forward to my next visit. One thing I noticed though is that there are times when the vibe igets a bit gloomy like in a horror film. It’s probably just my imagination. Maybe it was the creepy black crows, just the weather or the locals I saw were mostly quiet and looked really tired in the subway.

Thank you for your honest thoughts! ❤ I suppose most Filipinos don't have a sense of urgency, which can both be good and bad depending on the context. But mostly bad. I personally do not like the concept of "Filipino time" (people show up later than the proposed time). Also about the street children, dogs, and prostitutes: unfortunately, poverty is rampant in PH. Many organizations that handle these are severely underfunded. Or, unsurprisingly, corrupt. And yeah, jeepney. They can be very tricky. They would be fine if the urban planning was impeccable and people would not have to shove each other to get a ride home. Philippines is far from perfect. I just wish we put more considerations into urgent issues and perhaps change everyone's minds someday. [Edit]: I love your channel 💗💗
