Grandma Ruth sounds so sweet! I only met my grandparents once when I was three years old because they lived in Italy, but they always had a very special place in my heart. I love all of your handmade gifts, however your Great Great Great Grandmother’s recipe is truly special! ❤️

What a wonderful grandmother Natalie! That’s how I want my grandchildren to remember me not necessarily by all the material things I’ve given them, but homemade things I’ve given them from my heart. I always make a small treat box every holiday and leave it on my co workers desk and I hope when I’m gone they will remember that🥰

Throws, or blankets always make a great gift! You are so right about sewing things is so easy and always makes for a more comfortable feel and neater look! Many years ago I didn’t have a sewing machine, and not much money. For Christmas one year I made my husband a velvet robe by hand stitching the entire thing.

LOVE THESE! I'm EXTRA SUPER SENTIMENTAL so these are AMAZEBALLZ! A lot of my family appreciates "homemade/handmade" gifts, but there's ALWAYS that one or two who "just don't get it", however, ESPECIALLY you just gave me some EXCELLENT ideas! I moved 4 hours away from my momma, daughter, and siblings to be with my 90 yr old grama who lives next door in the event that she needs me. Turns out... I probably needed HER more than she needs ME. Lol. She's the most amazing, caring woman I've EVER known.... I've got letters and cards from her from YEARS ago still and I just CAN'T make myself get rid of them. She's at the point in her life where she's been giving everyone BACK the things we've given her over the years..... (she says to make it easier on everyone after she's gone 😢) so we NOW only give her things that she can enjoy just looking at as while she's in whichever room she's in at the time. Now, even though she's 90, she still does light cooking for herself, still drives herself, heck she gets around better than I do a lot of the time. Lol. Now I'm straining my brain trying to think of SOMETHING I could make and give to her just as a "little something". She LOVES coming over here and seeing all the crafts I've made PRETTY MUCH using only things I already have around the house. {other than the obvious glue, glitter, paint, etc... And I even USUALLY have most of that.} she just looks around and says it's like a museum or something in here... ESPECIALLY when I tell her what I made it out of. Lol

Love the recipe idea. My grandmother wrote, by hand, a lot of recipes & put them in a small binder. She gave it to me when I was 13 & I did not appreciate it them. Now, it is like my bible. Looks like it had been through the war. Wish I had taken better care of it. 😡 I made recipe books for my daughter's & sent paper to grandmothers & great grandmothers for my granddaughter. Such precious gifts. Thx Natalee for bringing back memories. 💞. ps I collect rolling pins too.

Ah-ha!! My rice bags!! I’ve made over 50 of these in the years my son was in private school. This year my niece-in-law became an expert cup cake maker and I had several that called for dried lavender. It was ok to eat and I sent her and my sister-in-law bottles of the herb in case they wanted to try these recipes. The extra I added to the rice bags.

Here's a little tip from a Southern girl to make fruit cake taste awesome. Take cheese cloth & soak it in a little Kentucky burbon. No need to wring it out--the wetter the better. Wrap several layers of the bourbon soaked cheese cloth around the fruit cake & place in a tin or tupperware. Let it sit for a time period from few days to a month. Then slice that cake & wow what a flavor. It might not taste much better, but you won't care (ha). The longer the cake steeps in the bourbon the stronger the taste will be. The best fruit cakes come from Claxton, GA! Try a bourbon soaked Claxton Fruit Cake next time.

These gift ideas are all wonderful Natalee but the cutting board stole my heart for sure. I’m a sentimental fool and love anything that’s been past down from generation to generation. My dad passed away when I was 10 so the letters I found that he had written when he was in the navy are true treasures as well.) Hi NataLee, Loved you gift ideas. Fruitcake is scary bad and no one likes it unless it's my recipe. I don't know where I got it but make it every year and everyone loves it. It has 8 ingredients. 6oz dried mango, 6oz dried pineapple, 8 oz chopped pecans, 1 c dried cranberries, 10oz jar maraschino cherries, drained well, cut in half and dried on a paper towel, 8oz flaked coconut, 1 1/2 tablespoon flour and lastly 1 can of sweetened condense milk. Mix all together and place in a loaf pan lined with parchment paper. pack it firmly into the pan. Bake at 300 degrees F or150 degrees C for 1 hour. Cool before removing from pan. it is easy to make and always surprises people who are afraid to try it and find it delicious

8:55 Or you could go old school and hand embroider them on. Embroidery is very relaxing and can be done while watching tv or a movie!

Natalie are you eating one of those dried up Claxton fruit cakes? Yuke! After Christmas, I'll send you my families receipe for refrigerated fruit cake. The base is vanilla wafers, it's to die for! Loved all the gift ideas. Especially the hand written one on the cutting board. Your right, so sentimental. TFS

ModPodge now makes a dishwasher safe product that you can seal the mugs with to make them last longer. They have to cure for several days since you won’t be able to put them in the oven with the stickers but it makes the design last a lot longer.
