I like it, functional and doesn't look half bad. And considering it's made from just 2x4s and so is probably cheaper than buying an ikea cabinet (and also probably a lot stronger), I consider that a big win. Not everything has to be made from walnut or birch plywood.

Nice build. A thought about the top - if you put the boards on the inside/bottom, you get a shelf with a border on the top. And that might be either something you want, or something you want to avoid, depending on the situation.

Nice build SL. Like it a lot. Extremely modifiable. Don't know why I hadn't thought about this in the 1st place. Been trying to figure out how to cut wood expenses due to cost of plywood. Try using pallet wood as an option. 2 thumbs up 👍👍

Nice job mate! As a novice, thats one of the best DIYs ive seen for CHEAP! I Wonder if you wamtwd to make more whether 2 x 4x2s plus 1 sheet of 3-5mm ply would cost/how many you'd get for youoney using ply for the shelf bottom/top sides? Door. Eg. Cut the 4x2s down for same frame but ise a sheet of 3-5 mm ply for the faces, wpuld it work out cheaper after doing say 4 cabinets? - BTW Wood is between 1/3-1/4 the price of the price here in England so guess that makes a BIG difference

I have not calculated the numbers for using a 2x4 and thin plywood but it does seem like it would be inexpensive if you made four or more.

Now, this is practical. Can be used almost anywhere. The possibilities are endless. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ >>>>>>>> Note to self: can also make the door with a porthole to see what is inside. (some, not all). Can make a narrower one for bathroom (aka: second medicine cabinet).

nice little cabinet! i don't think this kind of resawing and the like is something most folks think about. i've made a bunch of shop cabinets out of 2x6 offcuts leftover from a job. I went with 3/8" thick and add a drop of glue in the center of each of the panel boards and brads. i shiplaped them to hide the shrinkage that usually comes with construction lumber. maybe even just beveling the edges to 45˚ would help avoid gaps when that wood shrinks later. or you can give it time to reach equilibrium with your shop if you're more patient than i am. construction lumber usually shrinks a bit due to not being very dry. often 12-15%+ compared to the 5-7% it will fall to in a climate controlled environment.

Maybe you can slow down just a bit. You are at full speed and people need to keep up. If you are a classroom teacher I can’t keep up. You’re really good but a little fast. Explain things a little more would help

$10 in materiel and $1000 in tools?
@SpecificLove7
@SpecificLove7 9 ай бұрын
Tools are definitely required to build any projects, so builders do not even consider that part of the price. For example, let's say you earn $1,000 a week at your job, would you then say that it doesn't count because you had to pay $20,000 for a car to get you there? Just a thought.
@briankeithwood
@briankeithwood 9 ай бұрын
@@SpecificLove7 I understand, but it is nice to know that a project requires a number of expensive tools to build... maybe a price list if you didn't have a way to split a 2x4 into strips.
