I use door stops to tilt my sewing machine toward me to help avoid hunching over my machine to see what I'm working on.

This is not a Dollar Store hack, but it's a great way to get lots of light in your sewing room. I had my handyman install a neon shop light in the ceiling over my sewing machine. I added a link to the chain so that I can turn the light on and off while I sit at the machine. It even has a built-in Bluetooth speaker! I absolutely love it. He ran the wiring up through the ceiling into our attic so I don't even have to have an ugly wire hanging down. It's the best gift ever.

I bought a Dollar Tree makeup brush set for cleaning the lint out of my sewing machine. I keep an eye out for bristles that might come loose, though. Not a hack, but Dollar Tree is where I bought foam board for making my design boards. I keep my thread and it’s bobbin in individual plastic snack bags for each color, but I like the idea of the pony tail holder to keep the thread from unwinding inside the bag.

I also use the make up brushes, and for a design board for quilts I use the dollar tree flannel back oblong tablecloth. Hang it with command hooks on my wall plastic side to the wall, and the flannel side I put my fabric squares.

SEW CLEVER! My Fav is the poster boards ($1!) to make project boards. They cut easily with an old rotary cutter & I use white fleece (or batting) to cover them. PUMICE stone I use for my HANDS because it keeps my palms smooth when hand sewing & handling fabric. Keep Them Coming!!

@sewquilty
@sewquilty Жыл бұрын
@@JesusisKing222 That is Really Smart! I inherited a whole bag of brand new white fleecy type fabric with no idea of what to use it for. So I tried it on project boards. Works great--thicker than batting--but holds like batting & was a good way to use it up. But using new or even some old fleece back plastic tablecloths is genius!

I love all your tips from Dollar store. I used to keep my sharp sewing scissors on a lanyard around my neck at work. Until I stood up quick and I got stabbed in the leg because the scissors got stuck on the bottom of the table when I stood up fast. Oops! Was handy though. Never had to question where they were! Keep up the good videos. I always love to see a new one or for that matter and old one

Caution about the dollar store... the items are cheap but not if you will just use them for a minute and then throw them away. I try not to buy single use plastics and items that need batteries (recharge and electrical are preferred to me). Most plastics will take about 500 years to biodegrade, Yes REALLY. Even recycling is hit and miss as to whether that plastic is actually getting reused! Hacks are great! I love hearing about clever tricks to get stuff done. Thank you for listening to my little rant - ♥🌈🌞🌎
