Man thinking back on it I had a book I had gotten at a scholastic book sale at my school with Rod Woodson as a 49er in it, man that was back in the day when you learned about great players in books instead of highlight clips. “How did you learn about football?” “I read about Jerome Bettis in a kids book back in 1998.” It really did make him look like a superhero.
@fizzyfuzz5878 Жыл бұрын
Steve Smith was the heart and soul of that franchise. Still to this day. That release was heartbreaking, he's the reason I became a fan of football. He was much watch TV, even on a lot of those bad Carolina teams. Only had a solid passing QB for three full seasons, Jake Delhomme. Then at the end of that third season '08, Delhomme suddenly lost all his skill in the first playoff game.

For any of you not old enough for Ed McCaffery and his Bronco years...He had an amazing stretch along with Rod Smith....What Ed could have done with Den if he had got there 3 years earlier. He had great hands and could always make the tough catches... his ypc for that 3 year span was impressive too...He was fun to watch

The Browns were pretty stupid to cut Bernie Kosar in mid-1993 season. All they had left after was some scrub named Eric Zier & I don't even remember the other backup qb's name. "Diminishing skills" they said but in reality it was more personal. Kosar went on to sign with Dallas & helped them when Troy Aikman was injured on their way to another Super Bowl winning season.

The Seattle Seahawks released Bobby Wagner in mistake and scooped him up right away. At least, they were fast enough to admit their mistake. The Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell story is just unbelievable. These guys should have gone to the Super Bowl and there is no question about it. How could you let go Steve Smith and Tyrann Matheus? Those guys are ones that can change the course of the game and win the championships. The Washington Redskins/Commanders after 92 super bowl championship, the Cardinals and the Texans are the dumbest franchises ever.

Here are other notable ones I thought of @Jax Pillow. Jerome Bettis fumble against the Colts that almost ruined his legacy, Chase Blackburn not getting off the field in time giving the Patriots a second chance in Super Bowl 42, Reggie Bush’s muffed punt that set up a first and goal for the Vikings in the 2009 NFC Championship Game, and Lawrence Tynes missing the game winning field goal in the 2007 NFC Championship Game.

None compare to the Tampa bay Buccaneers of Hugh Culverhouse cutting Doug Williams because he wasn't going to pay a black qb $400,000 a year. Doug was the heart and soul of the team. He then signed Terry Hanratty and paid him $400,000. Doug went on to win a superbowl with the Redskins and Joe Gibbs. Hanratty was a disaster.
